The chairman of the League Management Company, Sheu Dikko, has expressed
satisfaction on the progress the Nigerian league has made.
He made this known in his speech at the just recently held League Management
Company’s Annual General Meeting in Uyo.
Dikko, insists the LMC would remain focused on growing the standards of the
NPFL, so as the elite division can continue to witness the steady progress.
“We are all witnesses to the progress we have made so far in the league. The
football fans love what we are doing. That was achieved by the innovation of
the LMC,” Dikko said.“We saw the bets of football played last season. The home
must-win syndrome wasn't applicable last season. We have seen a huge progress
from the league.”
He also applauded the media and stakeholders. Who have one way or the other
helped in the development of the league.
“I congratulate the media and stakeholders for their efforts. We also put
interest in capacity development. The administrators and media went for
seminars and were well equipped.“For the first time, we were in the world
league forum and as pioneer members. We took all decisions collectively, worked
hand in hand with the club owners and carried the clubs along.
“Everyone moved in the same direction. Last season, we were able to show
that this league has the potentials. Going forward for the new season, we are
looking at consolidating on the successes of last season. The biggest challenge
we had last season was the issue of salaries.
“We need to work together for a better Nigerian league. I must commend the
Nigeria Football Federation for their supports.“I also want to commend the club
owners, board of directors and all those involved in the development of the
game. I want us to build a league we can be proud of,” he ended.
Meanwhile Members of House of Representative committee on sports have
expressed confidence on the Leadership of the League Management company LMC,
headed by Mallam Shehu Dikko, for transforming the Nigeria elite domestic
League which have become an attractive brand to both the football fans and to
investors.
Speaking at the Opening ceremony of the Annual General Meeting of the League
Management Company LMC held at the Le Meridien Hotel Uyo in Akwaibom state
south south Nigeria, a member of the House of Representative committee on
sports Hon. (Mrs) Ayo Omidiran said the standard of the league had improved
tremendously.
She said that the house committee on sports have followed with keen interest
the successes by the LMC under Shehu Dikko and decided to be associated with
the progress made.
