A wonderful free kick from Ochowechi Salefu and Awazie Ekene's strike secured maximum points for the Remo Stars over Gombe United in Match Day 22 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The game which was played at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu ended the home side five (5) games without a win.
The game started with lot of expectations from the fans of Remo Stars to get a win against the visitors, Gombe United.
Ochowechi Salefu broke the deadlock for the Sky Blue Stars with a superb free kick after Ekene Awazie was brought down close to the opposition box.
The visitors immediately tried to get an equaliser through Austine Oladapo but he anxiously played wide.
Ekene Awazie doubled the lead for the Sky Blue Stars from Ochowechi Salefu's corner kick in the early 16 minutes of the game.
Gombe United got another opportunity from Idris Bakare brilliant corner kick but was defended well before Afolabi Abdulwaheed's chance was cleared away by Lasisi Saheed.
Just immediately, Sadiq Shuaibu tried another chance that went wide and Oche got the ball from Ndukwe Chizoba to locate Awoyemi Abiodun before Dufegha Eric's chance was seen defended by Sadiq Shuaibu.
Ewelike Edozie should have made it 3-0 for the Sky Blue Stars from Martaba Umar's cross but his attempt went wide before Afolabi Abdulwaheed found another opportunity that went wide.
Minutes to the end of the first half, Dufegha Eric scored a sitter from Martaba Umar's cross but was signaled offside by the referee.
Ochowechi Salefu got another opportunity through Ekene Awazie cross when Dufegha Eric couldn't meet at first attempt but he anxiously played it over the bar.
Gombe United's Austine Oladapo had a chance to pull one back for the visitors but his attempt hit the woodwork to meet Uche Onwuasanya but was caught in an offside position.
All efforts to get a goal proved abortive for the visitors, Ekene Obi deflects another opportunity from Austine Oladapo and the referee signals the end of the game.
