Akwa United goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke has spoken ahead of Sunday's AiteoCup final against Niger Tornadoes, declaring that the Promise Keepers are determined to secure the club’s second cup win in three years.
Olorunleke and Akwa United will have to overcome the challenge posed by Coach Abubakar Bala's Niger Tornadoes' side before lifting the trophy at the 'Soccer Temple' Agege Stadium on Sunday, just as expects a difficult test from the Ikon Allah Boys.
"It’s going to be a very tough game for us. We’re talking about a final, my first major final against a very difficult side in the competition, they have all knocked out decent sides," Olorunleke told onward247news.blogspot.com.ng.
"Tornadoes knocked out FC IfeanyiUbah and other good sides, so it will be a very tough duel to go all the way, but we’re really determined to try to win the cup, and fired up to lift that special trophy and by God's grace I will.
Olorunleke who joined Akwa United from Sunshine Stars midway through the just concluded NPFL season got much praises and accolades as he guided the Promise Keepers to fourth on the log and the soft spoken goal tender who recorded third highest number of clean sheets (13) in the NPFL behind Mustapha Aliko of Niger Tornadoes (14) and Nasarawa United's Suraj Ayeleso (15) has history against Tornadoes as one of the two goalkeepers who saved two spot kicks in a single match last season while at Sunshine Stars.

Though that game ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Sunshine Stars despite Olorunleke's heroics for saving two penalties and making crucial saves but the the former Giwa FC keeper is determined to change the result as he aimed to play continental football next season with Akwa United
"I will always remember that game, even though we later lost that match, but the saves I made and the way the football fans in Lokoja were cheering and clapping for me, it was incredible!" Olorunleke recalled with a smile.

"We know that Tornadoes are very dangerous side with young and fast players, but we gave everything to get this far and if we can lift the trophy which I'm positive we will by God's grace, it will add to the respect everyone has for us and I will also be happy to play on the continental stage," he said.
