Lanreleke Sports Academy holds inaugural graduation ceremony on Friday

 



It will be glitz and glamour as the Lanreleke Sports Academy, Ileogbo will host its first graduation event to celebrate The Peculiar Class of 2024 on Friday, July 26th at the School Pavilion by 11:30 am.


The co-educational, fully residential and specialist senior secondary school, which was founded in 2021, will be graduating 60 students after spending three years in the school.


Super Eagles legend Mutiu Adepoju (Headmaster), Toyin Ibitoye, ex-Spoke Person for Super Eagles, and Royal Fathers are among the top VIP guests who are billed to attend the event in Ileogbo. 


Proprietor of the School, Engr Olanrewaju Adeleke told the media, "It's an absolute joy for the management of Lanreleke Sports Academy to celebrate its first graduants- The Peculiar Class of 2024.


"The graduating students have been well tutored and trained in the area of sports and academy, as they also wrote their WAEC and NECO exams.


"Since it's a mix of academics and sports, they all engaged in Football, Basketball and Athletics, likewise been exposed locally and internationally.


" It will interest Nigerians, that some of them will be travelling to Europe for trials, local clubs signing, scholarships to America, and Europe, and some will further their education in Nigerian Universities."

Future Eagles to camp at Lanreleke Sports Academy as Gusau hails Engr. Adeleke's intervention in sports infrastructure

 


NFF President Ibrahim Gasau has poured encomium on Engineer Lanre Adeleke, as he informed that the national U-15 male team tagged Future Eagles and its female counterpart will be camping at the Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo. 


Lanreleke Sports Academy was founded in 2021 and is a co-educational facility, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School. 


The nation's apex football egg-head who was on a working visit to Osun State, had a first-hand assessment of the level of football development in the state and also saw the sports facilities put in place by the government and private individuals. 


Gasau was led by the Osun State Football Association boss Sola Fanawopo to the Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, 


Gasau who didn't hide his delight after seeing the state-of-the-art facilities at the Lanreleke Sports Academy said. 



"Let me start by applauding the vision of Engineer Lanre Adeleke, this is a huge investment towards developing the youths in Ileogbo. It was fantastic to see for myself the level of football development in Osun State. 



"Am impressed with the facilities the Lanreleke Sports Academy has in stock for our youths, the serene environment is good for academic learning and sports development of future talents. 


" With what I have seen at the facility, let me state that the Future Eagles and our female U-15 team, will be using the Lanreleke Sports Academy as their camp to further their development. 


"Also some talents from the Lanreleke Football Academy will be drafted to the Future Eagles. The NFF won't stop at that, as it will send a few technical personnel to the academy."

Adepoju Fathia: Lanreleke Sports Academy youngster makes Nigeria squad for football tourney in China

 

Adepoju Fathia, a student of Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, Osun State has been selected to represent Nigeria in the Secondary Schools Female Football Competition in China.


Established in 2021, the Lanreleke Sports Academy is a co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School. 


Fathia, a 15-year-old and exciting football prodigy was selected by the Nigeria School Sports Federation NSSF) for the 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Cup for girls, which will hold

in Dalian from May 16 to 27.


The Project Manager of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, and Proprietor of the co-educational and sports academy, Engr. Olalekan Adeleke shared his delight as he noted. 


"We are delighted that Adepoju Fathia, an SS2 Student from Iwo, Osun State made the final selection. 




"We are also not surprised at her football career growth as she is hard-working, dedicated and has the zeal to be the best. Fathia is among the 15 players selected across the country to represent Nigeria at the tournament.



"At Lanreleke Sports Academy, we don't nurture football players, as we also develop future stars in other sports like Athletics (Track and Field), Basketball and Tennis. 



"The management is wishing her and the team the best as we urge her to be a good ambassador of the Lanreleke Sports Academy and indeed Nigeria. 



Adepoju Fathia and over 300 girls from secondary schools across the country participated in a two-day trial held inside the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere.

Lanreleke Sports Academic will be Nigeria's factory for sports talents - Segun Odegbami

 


Nigeria’s iconic football star, sports administrator, and broadcaster, Chief Olusegun Odegbami says the Lanreleke Sports Academy will be Nigeria's factory for sports talents.

Founded in 2021, the Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, Osun State is a co-educational, fully residential, and specialist Senior Secondary School.

Odegbami, who is regarded as one of the greatest football players to have ever emerged from Nigeria as well as the continent of Africa, while speaking at the 2-day Sports and Education retreat, said the consultants have impacted their knowledge on the student, while many have shown signs of striving to be the best in future.

"I and a group of co-consultants have been tasked with the responsibility of helping to achieve the vision of the proprietor of the secondary school, Engineer Lanre Adeleke, which is to combine sports and education and to take the school to a level that no other school in Nigeria has attained, and make it the very best of its kind in the world.


"We assembled a team of consultants who have spent the last 48 hours accessing the school, particularly in the area of academics and sports, so that the combination is perfect and achieves a desired objective.


"We brought in from the world of football, probably the most successful coach in the history of Nigeria's domestic club football, Kadiri Ikhana (MON).

"From the world of arts and culture, film and entrepreneurship, we have the very best Africa, a cinematographer, and filmmaker, Dr. Tunde Kilani.


"We had one of the best and few experienced administrators of the combination of sports and academics at secondary schools level in Nigeria, Mr. Denis Owumi.


"A special consultant from the United Kingdom, Mrs. Toyin Adejumo, who has been working with us at the Segun Odegbami Int'l College & Sports Academy (SOCA)  brought her expertise in the area of education and developing a special methodology for the teaching of children who have challenges in learning to play, as we're aware of the fact that students who concentrate more on sports, encounter issues with their learning. So the management devising new methodology and is strategies in making sure our students become the best in terms of academics and sports."




A consultant on sports business illuminated that part where gifted students can go professional with their careers in America and Europe or any enterprise related to sports.



During the retreat, Mrs. Adejumo had two different sessions with the academic staff and teachers of the school on methodology for teaching students.



Ikana a former Enyimba of Aba coach, had a practical session with all coaches and technical staff, regarding a special coaching program and technique for students/athletes under the age of 17.



Coaches and other technical staff engaged him, Owumi, and Kunle Ràji in football, Academics and professional academic careers, and others.



Recall, Owumi had a session with teaching and administrative staff, where he lectured on 'Combining Sports and Education to achieve measurable results...an effective curriculum'.



The program ended with an inspirational/vocational talk on "New Media, film and Photography by Dr. Tunde Kelani and a film show, titled Maami.



Also speaking, Chairman Implementation committee of the academy, Lekan Adeleke said the retreat was to ensure that the school did not deviate from it objective of raising talents both academically and in sports.


He added that the retreat also provided opportunity for the teachers and students to listen, learn and hear from the best minds in several field.

40 students set to resume at Lanreleke Sports Academy as screening ends in Osun State


About forty 40 'talented' students drawn across five States- Delta, Edo, Lagos, Oyo and Osun are set for resumption and would enjoy new lease of life and careers when the much publicized citadel of learning Lanreleke Sports Academy LSA, situated in Ileogbo, Western Senatorial Districts of Osun State kick-start academic proceedings in October.


Lanreleke Sports Academy (LSA) is a newly established co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School. The pioneer students having been thoroughly screened will enjoy full scholarships and series of opportunities locally and internationally.


While responding to questions posed by newsmen at the Sports Complex of Obafemi Awolowo University the venue of the screening exercise, respected Nigeria football legend who is the consultant to the academy, Chief Segun 'Mathematical' Odegbami noted that, admitted kids will be modelled for academic exploits and sporting skills at the arena with arrays of sporting opportunities.


"Ultimately, LSA is a proper grassroots sports development project that takes our needs in local environments into considerations particularly when you have very large population, there's a need to marry our young ones with opportunities that exist in sports globally.


"The formula to achieve this is to gather kids who are so passionate in sports to start it early in secondary school. This school provides high performance opportunities for students in sports unlike other conventional schools. Seventeen years of potential problems have been dealt with at the academy because of my vast experience of running an academy. World class administrator has been appointed as we are also currently shopping for first class principal and instructors.


"The owner also wants to give children the opportunity they will not find anywhere else, complete scholarship that covers feeding, tuition and some other things. At the end of their 3 year stay, these kids would be ready to conquer the world of academics, sports or even the two together."


Odegbami who had 46 caps and scored 23 goals for the Nigeria national team which he guided to its first Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980 spoke further about the objectives of the academy.


"The objective is to equip as many children, boys and girls with the opportunity to horn their talents in sports, not only football, while they are getting a good education. The luckiest kids is assured of becoming stars in education and sports. Osun state is very lucky to have a son championing this course. He has given Osun state fifty percent of the opportunities. This will be the biggest co-education institute in Africa," concluded 'Mathematical' Odegbami  who was renowned for his speed, skill on the ball and precise crosses from the right wing in his playing days.


Also speaking at the screening centre, the administrator of the Academy, Coach Chike Egbunu informed that, 'LSA' is a Nigeria project devoid of tribal sentiments.


"The recruitment process have taken us to five different states, that shows this project is a national project. There's a foundation who will keep financing this project to ensure its sustainability, both local and foreign partners would soon be welcome on board. Some of our staffs shall be trained abroad solely for this project. It is our duties to make these raw kids stars until then, we will never be satisfied."


LSA Screening and Selection Committee include, Chief Segun Odegbami, another former Nigerian international Mutiu Adepoju, the School Administrator, Mr Chike Egbunu and top broadcast journalist Toyin Ibitoye.
