Historic comeback as Destiny Boys rally to emerge NLO Super 8 Champions

Destiny Boys have emerged champions of the Nationwide League One (NLO) after they defeated Campos FC in a five-goal thriller at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Friday.

It was a game of two halves that saw the Ikorodu based team come from behind to win 3-2 after scoring three second half goals.

Campos FC took the lead after Nzubechi Ogbuehi scored two quick goals in the 34th and 37th minute to put his team in the driver's seat, as the Owerri based team finished the half with a 2-0 lead.

It was a huge turn around of events in the second half after Enyimba legend, Ayo Saka scored in the 58th which appeared to be the right tonic Destiny Boys needed.

As the game entered the last 10 minutes, Uzoma Chinonso pounced on lose ball from Campos defenders sloppy defending to put the scoreline as 2-2 in the 82nd minutes.

With eight more minutes and added-time, the boys from Ikorodu were determined not to take the game to penalty shootout as they had faith in destiny.

As they piled up the heat on Campos defence, they were gifted a third and winning goal after Awolonu Chukwuebube put the ball in his own goal in the 89th minute.

It was little too late for Campos to put up an attack as the match official signalled end of play after three minutes of added time.

Optima Energy NLO Super 8: Danburam bounce back to pummel Udala FC

... As losing streak continues for Ottasolo FC

Danburam Fc bounced back to reckoning to defeat Udala Fc 4-2 on match day two of the on - going Optima Energy NLO Super 8 at Remo stars stadium, Ikenne, Ogun state.

Danburam Fc lost narrowly to Doma Utd on match day game played yesterday, but a brace from Jamilu Yusuf in the 20th minute and 63rd minute put the team on a cruise control of victory.

The fluid flowing football and their attacking forays created diverse problems for Udala Fc as Umar Musa registered the second goal for his side in the 42nd minute.

Umar Abdullahi, who scored the lone goal for his side in their 2-1 loss to Doma Utd was again on the scoresheet, when he hit the back of the net to make it 4-0 demolition of Udala Fc.

Five minutes later, Okeke Chinansa reduced the tally when he scored from a tight angle to make it 4-1.

The remaining minutes of the game saw Udala Fc piled pressure as they created chances, but the team only had another goal for consolation in the 90th minute courtesy of Godwin Okoyeatu to end the game 4-2.

Losing streak continues for Ottasolo

Ottasolo fc continues their poor form after they lost 3-0 to JM Liberty Fc of Makurdi.

JM Liberty Fc had the game under control in the first half but their dominance could not be reflected on the score board as the half ended goalless.

With the few fans at the stadium cheering Ottasolo fc, the players of JM Liberty were unfazed as their energetic and attacking play was rewarded with a goal in the 61st minute after a sublime finish from Shittu Olagunju.

Olagunju was well positioned to punish Ottasolo again with his brace in the 76th minute to make 2- 0 advantage for the Makurdi based side.

Efforts by Ottasolo to reduce the tally proved abortive as Akuki Musa in goal for JM Libery was equal to the task to deny any come back attempt from Ottasolo.

The game was put beyond reach of Ottasolo as Isiaka Moses nailed them with his goal in 90th minute to make it 3-0 demolition.

Optima Energy NLO Super 8: Doma United too strong for Danburam

A very exciting, action packed opening game of NLO Super 8 between Doma Utd and Junior Danburam Fc produced three goals, as Doma Utd triumphed 2-1 to pick the maximum points.

Doma Utd were the dominant side in the opening minutes of the game and Hilary Ekawu was very clinical to put his side ahead in the 11th minute.

Despite all the pressure and more chances Doma Utd created, Danburam Fc defenders were resolute to ensure the team did not concede another goal as the first half ended 1-0.

It was a different ball game in the second half when Danburam Fc gave no one the reason to doubt, their intention to equalise. Farouk Ibrahim in goal for Doma Utd was kept very busy with the attacking forays of the Katsina based team.

Umar Abdullahi gave his side something to cheer with his beautiful equaliser in the 63rd minute. There was no doubt that the game was very explosive with an end to end attacking football from both sides.

And when it appears that the game may witness a score draw affair, Ekawu, who had been the chief tormentor of Danburam was hacked down inside the box, which the referee signalled to the spot.

The resultant penalty kick taken 10 minutes to the end of regulation time was dispatched into the net by Adamu Danjuma, who sent Henry Timothy in goal for Danburam to the wrong way.

Doma Utd held on to their lead strongly to ensure that maximum points lies in their favour at the end of 90 minutes.
