Teqball: Victor Oyemade reigns supreme at Lead Sports 9ja Teqball Challenger Series


Nigeria number one seed Teqer Victor Oyemade, has underlined his credentials after winning all four group games at the 2024 “9ja Teqball Challenger Series” organised by Lead Sports Afrique in collaboration with the Teqball Federation of Nigeria in Jos, Plateau State. 


Playing in Group 'A' Oyemade in his first game today, 26th of November 2024, defeated Abdulkadir Folarin in two straight sets 12-1, 12-7, edged out Ihedioha McBlaise 12-5, 12-5, brushed off Mohammed Rabiu 12-7, 12-2 and smashed Mohammed Danjuma 12-0 12-0. He is joined by Ihedioha McBlaise as he progresses to the next round after triumphing in four games.


In Group 'B' Mikel Enebechukwu won four games and is joined by Yahyah Akorede who won three games to play in the next round.


Group 'C' saw Funsho Samson win all four games to progress while Joshua Musa won three games to join in as the second best in the Group.


Meanwhile, Grouping 'D' saw the calm display of Efosa Ebosa winning all four games to top the group as Ezeigbo Cornelius joined the list of top two to qualify for the second round after winning three games and losing one.


The quarter final game will be decided on November 27, 2024 at the Plateau State Deputy Governor's parking lot, Fwavwei Junction, Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State

African Beach Games HAMMAMET 2023: Nigeria Teqball contingent departs for Tunisia



The Nigeria Teqball contingent to the African Beach Games Hammamet 2023 made up of three Athletes and a Coach departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on board Asky to Lome-Accra and Turkish Airlines to Istanbul-Tunis.


The delegation which is led by the Head of Technical & Education of the Federation Mr. Abdul Bajeh is estimated to arrive Tunis by 9:20am on Wednesday 21st June 2023.


World number 31, African number 2 and Nigerian number 1 Victor Ademoye OYEMADE will compete for a slot for the Men’s Single in the next World Beach Games slated for Bali, Indonesia, from the 5th to 12th of August 2023. 


Oyemade will also partner with Funsho Funto SAMSON to compete for the Men’s Doubles event.


Samson on the other hand will also partner with Rashidat Bukola SALAU to compete for the Mixed Doubles event. 


Experienced and versatile Abdul Bajeh will be deploying his vast knowledge of the game to ensure that the Nigerian team does not only win medals but also qualify for the World Beach Games, Bali 2023.


The President of the Federation, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel wishes the Athletes the very best of the championship noting that Nigeria is a very strong force in the continent when it comes to Teqball. 


Worthy of note is that Nigeria finished 2nd in the last African Beach Games held in Sal, Cape Verde in 2019.

African Beach Games Hammamet 2023: Nigeria's Oyemade drawn in Group B for Men's singles Teqball event


World number 31 and Nigeria's number 1 Men's Singles Teqball player, Victor Ademoye OYEMADE has been drawn in Group B alongside World Ranked 493 and Algerian number 5 Samir MAOUI and 33 years old Sidnei SILVA from Cape Verde in the singles event of the African Beach Games, Hammamet 2023.


Oyemade will battle Sidnei Silva who will be taking part in his first ranking event in the Teqball Series on Sunday 25th June 2023 by 10am on Table 2 and will face Samir Maoui by 11am on the same Table 2.


12 Athletes across Africa, Gregory Dylan Tchami Djomaha - Cameroon, Samir Maoui - Algeria, Yassine Sahli - Tunisia, Andry Nambinintsoa Rakotondrabe - Madagascar, Senzo Mnisi - Eswatini, Lassine Kone - Mali, Sidnei Silva - Cape Verde, Sylvester Oko Nortey - Ghana, Abdulai Bangura - Sierra Leone, Septime Guenole - Benin, Chisimba Mutale - Zambia and Victor Ademoye Oyemade from Nigeria will be competing for the African slots at the World Beach Games later in August in Bali.


The Teqball event is scheduled to start on Saturday 24th June 2023 with the Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles qualification Events  from 10am until 6:30pm. 


The Day Two activities will comprise of the Men’s Singles qualification matches and Men’s Double, Mixed Doubles and Men’s Singles Knockout games. 


The Day 3 will be for the medals games; third place and finals.


The Nigeria contingent is made up of Victor Ademoye OYEMADE (M), Funsho Funto SAMSON (M), Rashidat Bukola SALAU (F), and the team Coach Abdul BAJEH (M).

Nigeria Teqball Federation selects Oyemade, Ijeoma, two others for 2022 Teqball World Series


The Nigeria Teqball (NIGTEQ) has selected the four athletes that will represent the country at the 2022 Teqball World Series slated for Paris, France from March 18th to 20th, 2022.


The world series will be held at the Departmental De Formation et d' Animation Sportives and the Nigeria Teqball has picked Yahyah Akorede Khalid (Kwara State), Oyemade Ademoye Victor(Kwara State), Obi Ijeoma Juliana (Plateau State) and Salau Bukola Rashidat (Kwara State) who are Nigeria's best ranked Teqball players at the moment in the current International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) rankings.


Nigeria will take part in three categories: Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles and the nation will be represented by two males and females at the global competition.


Making this known in a press statement, the head of Competition, Nigeria Teqball (NIGTEQ), Promise Uwaeme who wrote on the behalf of the NIGTEQ General Secretary said:  


"On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Teqball (NIGTEQ) and the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ), it is our pleasure to officially invite the underlisted Athletes to compete at the 2022 Teqball World Series, to be held from 18-20 March 2022 in Paris, France.



"This event will feature three categories: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles. The competition will be held at the Centre Départemental de Formation et d'Animation Sportives, which is one of France’s largest multi-purpose indoor sports and entertainment venues.

We kindly invite the following Athletes to represent the country in the World Series:


"1. YAHYAH Akorede Khalid- Kwara State

2. OYEMADE Ademoye Victor-Kwara State

3. OBI Ijeoma Juliana-Plateau State

4. SALAU Bukola Rashidat- Kwara State


The above athletes were selected based on current FITEQ ranking.


The press statement implored the Kwara and Plateau States Teqball Associations to do within their powers to prepare the athletes for the world series while the athletes are instructed to submit the data pages of their international passports and the acknowledgement of the receipt of the invitation and availability within the next 24 hours to the General Secretary of NIGTEQ


"You are kindly requested to acknowledge the availability of each of the Athletes within 24hrs of receipt of this invitation and also attach the data pages of each of the Athletes to the General Secretary of the federation via email on nigteq@gmail.com and competitions@nigteq.com.


"The State Associations concerned are expected to appoint a coach to work with the Athletes and submit progress report to the Head, Technical and Education on weekly basis."
