SHELL CUP 2016: FOSLA ACADEMY EMERGES FROM MINNA ZONE

Shell Cup
FCT representative in the 18th edition of NNPC/Shell Cup Competition, FOSLA Academy, Karshi Abuja on Thursday emerged winners of the Minna Zone of the competition.
FOSLA Academy which had earlier played 2-2 with the representative of Kaduna state, Barewa College Zaria, went ahead to beat Government Secondary School Yelwa, representing Nasarawa State by three goals to two. The Nasarawa team had earlier defeated their Kaduna counterpart by a lone goal. The FCT representative topped the zone with four points, and will now join other zonal qualifiers for the quarter finals holding in Ijebu ode from May 21st.
In the match against Nasarawa State, the FOSLA boys opened scoring in the tenth minute when Dauda Jibril  lashed on a cross that was deflected into the net by the opponent defender. 10 minutes later, Solomon Abraham was hagged down in the vital area, and the referee did not hestitate in awarding a penalty which was beautifully tucked in by Solomon Abraham. The Nasarawa boys capitalized on the momentary lost of concentration by the FCT boys to equalized the two goals before the interval.
On resumption of the second half, the FOSLA boys took the match beyond their opponent when Solomon Abraham scored the third goal, and his third in the competition.
Meanwhile, it would be reported that despite the good and talented players that all the states presented in the zone, poor organization almost marred the zonal preliminaries. The Coordinators of the zone were not prepared for the competition, as the Sports Field, Bosso Road, Minna used,  could not bring the best out of the teams.
