Ahmed Ghali: Ex Nigeria youth international switches clubs in Czech Superliga
Ahmad Ghali has completed a permanent move to SK Sigma Olomouc from Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic top league.
The ex-player of Abuja-based Mahanaim FC sealed a three-year permanent deal with a subsequent one-year option, following a successful medical.
Expressing his excitement about the latest transfer, the former Nigeria U20 and MFM FC player said "I'm happy to be here, I'm excited to go to such a great club with great ambitions. I believe I will help the team".
He continued "It was a bit surprising for me. Everything was agreed within one week. I had to make a decision quickly, it wasn't exactly easy, but on the other hand I didn't have to think too long.
"Sigma is a club that will play in Europe. I see it as a step forward in my career," said the 25-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who can play on both sides of the pitch.

Itinochi Team Partners Governor Ododo’s Spokesman to advance Cultural Integration
The Itinochi Revolution team has expressed readiness to partner with the office of the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Ismaila Isah, in advancing cultural revival through the 2025 edition of its annual festival.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser in Lokoja, the team lead, Omeiza Peter, said the visit was informed by the need for deeper collaboration and wider visibility ahead of this year’s edition of the Itinochi Cultural Festival themed “Beyond Borders, Beneath the Root.”
He described the festival as a platform that connects people to their roots while promoting the dignity of Ebira tradition, stressing that partnership with key stakeholders would further enhance cultural promotion and community pride.
Also speaking, the founder of the Itinochi Revolution, Haruna Abdulhamid, emphasized the socio-economic value of the cultural initiative as he noted that women, through traditional weaving and other hand crafts, have historically supported their families and contributed significantly to local economies.
According to him, reviving such practices would not only preserve heritage but also empower a new generation both economically and culturally.
Responding, Hon. Isah commended the resilience and creativity of the young minds behind the Itinochi project and pledged his support to promote the festival through the LugardTV platforms.
He further emphasized that the initiative has grown remarkably over the years and has the potential to earn national recognition as part of events i. Nigeria’s cultural calendar.
The Governor’s spokesman also urged the team to sustain their efforts, stressing that projects of this nature are vital in preserving cultural identity, empowering youth and showcasing Kogi State’s heritage to the world.

KOGI POLY COMMENCES SALES OF FORM TO CONVERT HND TO DEGREE CERTIFICATES THROUGH FEDERAL UNIVERSITY LOKOJA
Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja have begin sales of forms to admit candidates interested in converting their Higher National Diploma, HND certificate to Degree status.
This was part of the institution's recent collaboration with Federal University Lokoja (FUL).
The partnership allows HND holders to convert their certificates to BA/BSc/BLIS degrees.
Eighteen programmes are offered in affiliation with FUL for degree conversion.

KOGI POLY SIGNS HISTORIC MOU WITH FUL TO ADVANCE TERTIARY EDUCATION
Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), to commence degree programmes in the institution.
In the landmark agreement signed on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Senate Building of the University, a Study Centre will be established at the Polytechnic Main Campus, Lokoja, for the running of regular undergraduate degree and Top-Up programmes.
The regular degree programmes provide opportunities for interested applicants to apply for available courses through UTME and Direct Entry modes.
The Top-Up mode of the agreement will facilitate the conversion of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates into corresponding and available undergraduate degrees programmes.
The Top-Up programmes will be offered on both Part Time and Full Time basis.
The MoU also covers staff and student exchange programmes, equipment sharing for practicals to strengthen joint research and collaborative learning initiatives.
The elated Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, described the MoU as historic in all ramifications, stressing that it will be remembered as one of the legacy achievements of his administration, and one of the legacies bequeathed to the state by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi.
According to the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic is well equipped with quality manpower, robust infrastructure and a secure learning environment to support the collaboration.
He reiterated that all programmes offered at the Polytechnic are fully accredited, including those he inherited that were not previously accredited.
Prof. Usman assured that the Polytechnic’s accredited academic programmes would enrich the partnership, pledging total compliance with the terms of the agreement.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi, hailed the signing as a dream come true, attributing its success to the quality of leadership and cordial relationship between the two institutions.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the collaboration would significantly advance education in Kogi State and Nigeria at large, urging that implementation should commence without delay.
He also applauded the Polytechnic for aligning with efforts to make tertiary education more accessible.
In his remarks, the Director of the Centre for Distance and E-Learning of the University, Professor Musa Adeku Ibrahim, recalled that plans for the Study Centre began with a letter of intent from Kogi State Polytechnic on 12th February 2025, which was later approved by the University Senate on 7th August 2025, following an oversight visit for verification.
He noted that the MoU would remain one of the notable achievements under Professor Akinwunmi’s administration.
In his closing remarks, the University's Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor A. E. Bala, expressed his appreciation to the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic for clarifying potential grey areas and assured that the university would uphold the MoU as agreed.

Marcus Haruna: Footwork FC owner Labib Yarima hails mutually rewarding collaboration with Mahanaim FC
Footwork FC President, Labib Yarima has spoken on his clubs' partnership with Mahanaim FC which has resulted in a career shaping European move for midfielder Marcus Haruna, who recently signed for FK Sarajevo in the Bosnian league.
According to Labib Yarima, Footwork FC are proud of their association with Mahanaim FC whom they gave the player for further development.
"We are very happy to know that one of our own Marcus Haruna is now in Bosnia. I got a couple of congratulatory messages on that. Of course Marcus was our player whom we picked from Rambo FA, and in wanting the best development for the kid we also gave him to Mahanaim FC based on the great partnership we have with them.
"We are glad to know that the boy has now signed. We thank Mahanaim FC for their professionalism in this partnership.
"They are a very good club with a great reputation. Together we're all happy for Marcus," Labib said.

Transfer News: Bosnia top club, Sarajevo make double swoops on Mahanaim duo
One of the fastest growing football clubs in Nigeria, Mahanaim FC have make history as they announced the successful completion of two of their players to five times champions of Bosnia Premier League, FK Sarajevo,
Versatile 18-year-old Nigerian midfielder Marcus Haruna, alongside Ivorian midfield sensation Yahi Guy Mohammed, 18, made the direct switch at the insistence of the Bosnian club.
DURATION
The players have signed 3-year contracts, as they are expected to help FK Sarajevo achieve their objectives in the Bosnian League and other competitions.
HISTORY
This marks a historic turn for Mahanaim FC, being the first time the club will transfer more than one player to the same club at a time.
Club CEO, Mr. Simon Alfred, described the double transfer as a sign of trust placed in the Mahanaim FC talent structure, by the football community.
"These transfers excite us as a club, having ensured that we stay true to our goals and objectives. We're happy the boys have taken the next steps after excelling in the fundamental values passed to them. We are glad to have achieved this little piece of history with a great club like FK Sarajevo," said Simon Alfred.

Senator Sadiq pledges commitment to sports development, thanks Gov AbdulRazaq
The Senator representing Kwara North at the Red Chambers, Senator Sulaiman Sadiq Umar has reiterated his resolve to continue to impact on sports and youth development in the state, even as he praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for investing in the sector.
While addressing members of the Kwara United Football Club Supporters Club and Fans Club who paid him a thank you visit in his house in Ilorin yesterday Wednesday August 6, 2025, the Senator, fondly being addressed as 3SU equally congratulated the Governor, for the numerous achievements recorded in sports, especially the President Federation Cup trophy won by Kwara United Football Club.
3SU described the Supporters and Fans as the nerve centre that gives the team the required energy which has continued to propel the team to greater heights.
“Your roles as Supporters and Fans of the club is crucial and pivotal to the team in their quest to achieve success. You are the nerve centre that gives the team the required energy to survive, and win laurels.
“Government cannot do all these alone. We shall continue to play our complementary roles and responsibilities in line with the aspirations of the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq, CON, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum”, he said.
“I will not relent in supporting sports and youth development, especially our team, Kwara United Football Club.
Earlier in their addresses, the Chairman of Kwara United Supporters Club, Waheed Saliu Obe and the Chairman of the Fans Club, Tajudeen Osoogun thank Governor AbdulRazaq for supporting the team. They also commended the Senator for his complementary roles, which, according to them, was crucial to Kwara United's success.
The duo, on behalf of their members, equally thanked the Kwara FA Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, for his encouragement.
The two groups appreciated and presented awards of excellence to the Senator.
In his opening address, the Chairman of Kwara FA, Thuraya commended the commitment and sacrifice of the Supporters and Fans Club, while he christened the Senator as a silent achiever.
He detailed some of his numerous contributions to include motivation to the players throughout the season, especially at the crucial stage of the season, production of branded jerseys and track suits and replicas for the players and fans, and other groups, which included the FA members throughout the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
AFA Football Academy schedules three friendly matches in Ilorin
AFA Football Academy, based in Lafiagi, in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State has scheduled a tour of Ilorin, where they are expected to play three friendly matches between August 15th to August 17th, 2025.
The Academy, owned by US-based entrepreneur and ex-player, Aliyu Issa Aeidu, are expected to play against Kwara United Football Club, Abubakar Bukola Sà rà kà Football Club and Kwara Football Academy.
AFA Football Academy was launched at the Lafiagi Township Stadium in February this year, to open up a footballing empowerment initiative for the youths.
It’s a new sports talent nurturing outfit with a dedication to cultivating local football talent and nurturing young individuals in their pursuit of professional aspirations, especially from the state.
The team is expected to arrive Ilorin on Friday August 15, and depart on Monday August 18, after the friendly matches.
The Academy, since it's inauguration, have played several trial matches and competitions in Kaduna, Abuja and Lagos, as a way of exposing the players, and creating opportunities for them.
Aeidu said that the vision behind the initiative was to create a career pathway for the talented youths, especially in Lafiagi and it's environs, to give back to the society and to check social vices.
"We want to grow local football so that we can be able to minimise crime through the engagement and empowerment of youths through football. It’s also a way of community development”, he averred.
“I had a lot of dreams growing up as a footballer, but I couldn’t make it. I had the opportunity to go abroad, where most things are not done by the government, but by private individuals.
“I want to bring back here what I have learnt, so that we can help our young talented players to grow, as charged the youths to take advantage of the opportunity.

In his welcome address the Proprietor, As -Salam Group of Schools, Dr. Abdulsalam Issa Idris admonished parents never to relent in their parenting functions and to rise tall in discharging their roles and responsibilities, especially in today’s society.
According to him, 'this years graduation ceremony is unique in the sense that Almighty Allah in His magnificent mercies has kept us going in the last four years amidst the economic bites in the country, as our academic excellence was not daunting'.
"Infact, to God be the Glory in all ramification.As we started the program this morning, as human being, we were sceptical how it going to be. But at least, we thank Almighty Allah for the great success of this year's graduation ceremony. Despite the economic bites in the country, Allah has been in charge of our affairs and with prayers things have been moving steadily.
"As a Proprietor, my research into other schools within the metropolis availed me that our outgone pupils from basic 5 class are far better and incomparable to some Junior Secondary school students in other schools in terms of their academic prowess and this my affirmation can be attested to judging form today's graduation. To God Almighty be the Glory, " Abdulsalam said.
The elated erudite Islamic scholar lauded the people of Kangile community for the leverage given him to establish As - Salam Group of Schools in their domain, affirming that the school's tuition fee is the lowest in the state.
"The motive to which the citadel of learning was established four years ago was not for monetary gains, rather to raise future leaders who would uphold moral values system while blending Arabic studies with Western education. We thank God that we're achieving these and we have not derailed from mission and vision to which As-Salam Group of Schools was birthed.
"What we're collecting as school fee is unquantifiable to what we are offering them in terms of leaning which all parents had attested to here today. We have nothing less down thirsty teachers to which the proceeds from the school fees could not meet their salaries except we argument it outside source. We thank Allah that is helping us despite the hardship in the country," the Proprietor stressed.
Abdulsalam congratulated the Graduands for completing their studies and achieving a new milestone. He echoed that their hard work, determination, and perseverance has paid off, and more than, the school is indeed proud of their accomplishments.
The Proprietor however challenged the graduands as they proceed to another chapter of their lives to imbibe Islamic teachings learnt during their years in the school and reminded them to stay true to the principles of Islamic faith and always uphold and lift the banner of Islam wherever they find themselves because not only that Islam is a blessing to Muslims but also, a source of moral compass and total guide since it is a complete way of life.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the occasion Mr. Dauda Isiaq Dodo from the Exams Department of the Kwara State Ministry of Education acknowledged that As - Salam Group of Schools have actually maintain both the International and Indigenous curriculum, saying the pupils presentation and fluency in both Arabic and English languages was extremely incredible.
"I am here today to honor the invitation of As - Salam Group of Schools to celebrate it's fourth annual graduation. In the same vein, a parent, Mrs. Mustapha Ipadeola confirmed that six of her wards are in As -Salam Group of Schools and said she did not regret enrolling them in the school.
"A lot of academic changes have taken place in the lives of my children since they joined As-Salam Group of Schools. I enrolled six of my children here and I did not regret bringing them here. I pray Allah will continue to soar higher In sha Allah," Ipadeola prayed.

The Chairman of Kangile community in Zango Area of Ilorin, Kwara State, Mr. Sanni Tunde Lukman has affirmed to newsmen that the establishment of As- Salam Group of Schools within the convine of the town have projected the image of the community to the global world.
Sanni states this on Sunday while answering questions from our reporter at this year 4th Graduation and Prize giving ceremony of the school.
He said: "This is my first time of coming to this citadel of learning. In fact , what I saw today is more than my expectation and I can confirm to you that this school has prospect. I strongly believe that As-Salam Group of Schools will produce great leaders in future.

According to him, 'we're in a time where self discovery is utmost instead of waiting for what government or anybody would do for you, hence the graduating pupils should believe in themselves and be a worthy ambassador of their Alma matter'

Ga'a Ajegunle community in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed their profound gratitude to the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District at the 10th assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha over his timely intervention to bring to an end to perennial darkness across the communities by given them 500KVA transformer.
The Chairman of the community, Mall. Sulaiman Omotosho Fatai who is fondly called Enimagunyan stated this on Tuesday while answering questions from our reporter in his officer.
According to him, 'the 19 communities under the aegis of Ga'a Ajegunle since December last year were thrown into total darkness as a result of collapse of the transformer supplying electricity to the area, but for the intervention of the lawmaker, economic activities have been restored back to the communities.'
"Our former transformer got spoit at a point around last year December, but within three months it was restored courtesy Senator Saliu Mustapha who gave us 500KV new transformer alongside wires and poles. Initially we were sceptical perhaps our request before the senator would be swept under the carpet, but the lawmaker proved us wrong.
"On behalf of the good people of Ga'a Ajegunle, we're grateful to him. We pray Allah to continue to uphold him. His is a humanist per excellence. He has the thought of the downtrodden at heart. The Senator have empowered many people in the state. He would never be put into darkness, "Enimagunyan prayed
The Chairman added that the residents of the affected communities cannot wait for 2027 general elections to give the senator an overwhelming votes, urging the authority of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide two polling units at Ga'a Ajegunle,as this would enable them to exercise their franchise with ease.
"As a grateful community, I think the better way to show our appreciation to Senator Saliu Mustapha over this gesture is for us to give him a bountiful votes any time he needs our services. We're all set to reciprocate his act of magnanimity by voting enmass for him in their next election.
"As OliverTwist, we are using this medium to ask for more from our politicians in the state. We need Maternity and Dispensary at Ajegunle as this would afford us quick access to Primary Health Care services. The bridge connecting Ajegunle community need urgent attention of the state authority, our road need rehabilitation and we have also approached the concerned authority for establishment of secondary school at Ajegunle ," the Chairman affirmed.
Sulaiman however described his three years at the helms of affairs in the community as unprecedented, saying his tenure has heralded lots of developmental projects to the area.
"Parts of developmental strides within the few years of our leadership in the community is the presence of Korope buses plying the area aimed at easing the movement of residents along the axis. We sought for the consent of the leadership of the NURTW on this and they approved our request immediately.
"We have us approached the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for polling units at two points within the community as this will allow us to discharge our civil responsibility during election *period,"* he said.
