A late comeback spared FC Robo Queens blushes as they denied Delta Queens an away win in the Nigeria Women Premier League opener after coming from 2-1 down to draw 2-2.
Goals from Okeke Chidinma and Folajimi Alaba earned the Lagos based team a share of the spoils at the Fifa Goal Project turf on Saturday after it appeared Oluwaseun Fakunle and Ogebe Alice had secured the points for the visitors.
FC Robo pressed their opponents relentlessly during the opening period but fell behind in the 39th minute when Chidinma netted a superlative goal, but Chidinma scored just before half-time to level matters.
Early in the second half, Rasheedat Ajibade was allowed to advance and test Delta Queens with a stinging drive, although FC Robo remained relatively comfortable until their defence erred decisively in the 65th minute.
And Alaba's late strike ensures Emmanuel Osahon’s girls avoid what would have been a first defeat in the league opener.
FC Robo host Confluence Queens in their next game at the Fifa Goal Project ground of the National Stadium, Lagos on June 4, 2016.
