No Mandate To Reclaim, Engr. Ohere's Victory, Clean, Clear, Most Credible in Kogi Central

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi Central Senatorial District have been advised to stop Media trial and efforts at seeking for sympathy over their woeful loses at the just concluded Presidential, National and State Assembly Election held in the district, insisting that there is no mandate to reclaim by the PDP in an election that was squarely won, clean and clear by Engr. Abubakar Ohere of the APC.

The Ohere Political Vanguard, in a statement signed by Taihiru Usman Maliki while reacting to a misleading report on behalf of the Senator Elect, Kogi Central Senatorial District, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, described the PDP Senatorial District Candidate as a bad looser who's trade in stock over the years is to take to the social media to calculate her electoral victory after her outright rejection at the polls.

We make bold to State that for the first time in history of election in Kogi Central, going by the assessment of International and Local observers, the election was adjudged as free, fair, credible, with not a single violence recorded.

The Ohere Political Vanguard wish to therefore describe the misleading information sponsored in section of online media aimed at weeping up sentiments by Barr. Kogi Central Residents with a Story titled: Residents Throw Weight Behind Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Confident of Retrieving Mandate, described the PDP Senatorial Candidate as living in life of hallucination, asked her to wise up, come to terms with reality that election are over and the APC victory remains a reality.

The Ohere Political Vanguard wonders why in the figment of the imagination of the PDP candidate she will be calculating figures on the air forgetting that INEC as a body and it's activities are governed by the laws.

The Vanguard further described as laughable for the PDP Flagbearer to want to teach INEC on how to declare a winner, explained that each time the PDP Flagbearer loses in an election, it is always like day dream to her. just like it happened at the National Assembly Election, thus making her resort to film making and drama acting on the social media.

The Ohere Political Vanguard notes for the umpteenth time that it is a trade in stock of the PDP never to agree to defeat in any contest, described the present scenario by the PDP Senatorial as an act they are used to.

The Ohere Political Vanguard is not surprised that the PDP is not tired of complaining in an already won contest, urged them to simply concede to defeat rather than attempt to overheat the polity for no just cause, better still head to court for justice as it claim in their news report.

It is unfortunate that since the PDP attempt at militarizing the election in Kogi Central was not able to yield results, the candidate has resorted to manufacturing and manipulating figures on air for INEC to declare them winner outside an already collated result in an election freely won by the APC Senatorial Candidate.

The attempt to claim victory on the air is to us an aberration and undemocratic. We  wonder if it was that simple the way election are won on paper as postulated by the PDP candidate, there wouldn't have been any need for contest in the first place as people would rather work towards the kind of PDP victory through mischief.

The PDP candidate for now should have been  tired of complaining in an already won contest and simply concede and to accept defeat or better still present evidence at the court rather than propaganda.

Manufacturing and manipulating figures on the air for INEC to declare the PDP winner in a mandate freely given by the people of Kogi Central to the APC outside already collated figures is an aberration and Undemocratic, making us to wonder if that was actually the way election are won.  Nobody would have contested election in the first place but rather work towards the kind of PDP victory through mischief.

The PDP without fear or contradiction was a party that was roundly defeated in the February 25th National Assembly Election but has refused to accept defeat for the mere fact that extortion from the higher purse must be allowed to dry up, a character trait the PDP is known for.

Certainly, that the PDP is inflicted with Pain is not out of place having been outrightly rejected can be understood owing to the quantity of dollars invested in the Kogi Central election that was for them a do or die. We however advice Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to come to terms with the reality that the people of Kogi Central have freely and willingly given their mandate to the APC.

The outcome of the Kogi Central Senatorial District election is a choice made owing to capacity, competence and antecedents of Engr Abubakar Ohere, a quality that has over the years made him a household name.

While the use of fictitious names in the misleading report by the Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Organization remains a hoax, holds no water, the people of Kogi Central since the election results have been declared in favour of the most acceptable candidate, have since moved on, expecting the much desired democracy dividends to start trickling in when Engr. Abubakar Ohere assumes representation.

We therefore use this medium to call on the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District that there mandate is secured and would not be reclaimed outside democratic tenets, rather with overwhelming evidences, we assure them their mandate would be affirmed, signed and sealed legally owing to the preponderance of evidence that the election was free fair and credible.

If for any reason the wounds are refusing to heal, we urge the Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Organization to seek legal means of redress in the Tribunal, but they should be rest assured that the APC within the ambit of the law will do all that is desired in protecting and securing the mandate freely given by the people of Kogi Central for Engr Abubakar Ohere of the APC for the good and prosperity of the people.

PDP's loss in Kwara poll, signs of nemesis - APC chieftain

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Kwara chapter, Alhaji Kayode Adams fondly called Cooler has said nemesis is catching up with Kwara PDP as it is evident that a greater percentage of the Kwara electorates are tired of the Saraki political egemony as displayed during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, where their candidates were randomly and resoundingly defeated by the APC.

In this interview with our Editor, the Ebodaniyan born politician said re-electing Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would consolidate the numerous achievements witnesses in the last four years, saying the governor has the capacity and track record to do more.

Adams added that there is no basis for comparism between AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's led government with the 16 years prodigy and arrogant reign of Bukola Saraki's administration in kwara,  alluding to the fact that the governor has brought back the lost glory of kwara schools that were left shattered by the immediate past administration. Exercpts:

How was growing up as a child looks like?

I hail from Ilorin here. My mother is from Ile-koto compound very close to Ode-AfaNda. My parents are from the same compound.

I attended Karumon Primary School and later to Ilorin Grammar School between 1974 -79. I had a certificate in Marketing from Kwara Tech. Along the lines,  I left Nigeria to overseas where I interfaces with different nationalities.

I voyaged into politics during the 1983 elections.  I was one of the pioneer founder of Alanamu club with the likes of Sa'adu Koroagba,  Ibrahim and Muyi Ikolaba. From there we priducded a councillor then called Alege amongst  others in 1983.

In 2002, I joined the administration of late Alabi Lawal, but I later opted out of his government as a result of persistent violence that marred his administration. When Bukola Saraki came,  I was part of the people that midwived him to power.

Our thought then was that with his high sense of exposure,  he would bring speedy development to Kwara State,  but he failed us. His father,  the late Dr.  Olusola Saraki was a good person.  In fact he was a good friend to my late father. It was the father of this present governor,  late AGF that brought Dr.  Olusola Saraki to Ilorin in 1962.

I know this because my father was a personal assistant to AGF then alongside late Babatunde Alanamu.  Late Dr.  Saraki did well throughout his political reigns.  Our thoughts over Bukola was that he would do more than what his Dad did. We all supported him wholeheartedly,  but he was too self-centered. He is too rude and disrespectful. He has no regards for the elderly. Bukola Saraki turned most of our youths into thug.

As a grassroots politician,  how would you rate the present administration relatively to the past administration in kwara state?

There absolutely nothing to compare.  The four years in the helms of affair of Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with the 16 years of the immediate past administration is pole part to each others. Those capital projects they errousneously laid claim on are federal government interventions.

There was no any indigenous schools that felt their impacts. We had bad roads across the state.  Their government lacks inclusivity. They rotated appointment within their cycles and clusters on like this present administration that always  sought for best brains.

There is no any local governments area today in kwara that you will not see the impacts of Gov.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led government.  He has brought back the lost glory of kwara schools that were left shattered by the previous government. It was under this present administration that a student won an award for the state from Canada. This is so as a result of his giant stride in educational section.

Mall.  AbdulRahman AbulRazaq is a benevolent par excellence.  He came up with lots of credits facility intervention for kwara traders. He has impacted positively all kwara marketers.  Go to Ipata markets. Go to Gbugbu market you will see his marks.

The governor at no time exercises a dominearing leadership style over the people of kwara,  rather he see himself as a servant. But the immediate past government in kwara almost equate themselves with God. They are grossly prodigal and arrogant. They will awards contract without cash backing.

Look at the Aviation College, the aircraft they procure during their time was resold to one person called Atunwa,  who was a one time taxi driver in London. He refurbished it and sold it back to the same government. They are too fraudulent. They amputated civil servants salaries throughout their period.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq paid salary of workers as at when due.  It is sadedned to hear the past prodigal government saying 'Otisuwa'.  If they are tired of this government, they should commit suicide.

How ready are the people of this your community(Lao) to re-elect Gov.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq?

I bought this land since 1989 and I met the community not well organised. They made me their leader and the community has witnessed speedy growth as you can see by yourself. I brought a polling unit to the community and that is why in the presidential elections they voted massively for Tinubu and APC.

I have brought lots of incentive packages for the community that cuts across widows,  artisan and the less privileged ones under the auspies of this government.

Myself and the governor are from the same family and he has not disappointed us.  And that is why I am supporting him.

The last elections saw Kwara PDP lost woefully at the poll.  Is this a pointer to final exit of the party in kwara?

Yes.  I want to belives that nemesis has caught up with kwara PDP.  All these are happening as a result of the continuation of progressive style of leadership of late AGF to which the governor imbibes.

Our core job in Ilorin before now was weeving and the late AGF in his futuristic minded set established Government Secondary school,  Adeta. The governor also took after his late father in term of living a lasting legacy for future generations. It was on this his track record that led to the collapse of kwara PDP in the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The people of kwara state have seen the changes. They have seen that PDP have no good plans for them. You can see how our tradition rulers unanimously support the governor.  Our traditional rulers in their wisdom advised Bukola Saraki to let the incubent governor has his share of two terms,  he revolted.

He went around saying he would alter  the hierarchy of the age-longed norms of our traditional institutions.  He is most he do politics.  He should leave kwarans alone and go back to his medical callings. So the fits of Kwara APC at the last polls was as a result of exponential achievements of Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

We noticed that many opposition parties in the state  are decamping to APC,  what is the secrete?

There is no any secrets about it at all.  I think they have all learnt from their mistakes. They have know the truth and the truth has begun to set them free.  They have decided to go back to their vomit after seeing that their bigotry tendency against the governor has failed them.

It is the pure heartiness of Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that makes them to come back.  God has vindicated the governor.

Tell us some of Gov.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's achievements in the state

Tsaragi township road I did it.  Guanara road along Laina road.  The Governor has constructed over 127 roads across the state. He did over 500 interlocking roads. All schools across the state have been refurbished.

All basic heath centre got equipments . Over 165 hospitals have been refurbished.  Boreholes just to mention but few.  All our traditional rulers are happy with the governor.

If you look back down the line how God has led you through the journey of life,  are you fulfilled?

Yes,  I am fulfilled! Allah has been so magnanimous to me.  I'm not over ambitious, am contented with what God has done for me.

What is your appeal to the people of Kwara on the need for them to troop out next Saturday to vote Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and APC.

Kwarans have known the truth and they will never go back to Egypt. They shouldn't vote for the opposition.  They have nothing for them. The people of Kwara state should in the same manner they did at the presidential poll vote massively for Mall.  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and all the APC candidates.

2023: Coalition of North Central Groups declare support for Southern Presidency

By Stephen Adeleye

The Coalition of the North Central Support Groups, a group of energetic men and women, strong political stakeholders, have resolved to officially declare their support for the Nigerian presidency to be zoned to Southern Nigeria.

The groups made the declaration in a Communiqué arising from their meeting held on January 13, 2022 in Abuja, and made available to journalists by its Spokes Person, Dr. Moses Paul, on Monday in Abuja.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the groups' National Coordinator, Hon. Ocheme Joseph; its National Secretary, Alh. Isah Momosani Musa; and its National Women Leader, Hajia Agartha Ibrahim.

According to the communiqué, the teeming members of the Coalition of North Central Support Groups, a group of energetic men and women, strong political stakeholders, have gathered and resolved to officially declare support for the Nigerian presidency to be zoned to Southern Nigeria, and further state as follows:

''That this very resolve is anchored on our firm belief in equity, fairness and justice, which characterise the basic essence and foundation of our democracy.

''That we are solidly charged  to  state that thus far the voyage Nigeria has sailed so safely and peacefully, interms of mutual understanding amongst the various geopolitical zones in our country, Nigeria, and hence the need to promote national unity.

''That the hinges that allow a political power to swing between north and south have equitably been operated upon by political actors this while, irrespective of one’s leaning and interest, just as we have recorded less power tussles in the PDP and in other political parties.

''That Lately, Nigeria, which is the big picture, super structure and a superset from where all political parties make their  calculations and permutations, form interests and ponder around, should be the focus of all political parties,  especially our party; the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP, and the  All Progressives' Congress- APC.

''That all political parties build the fulcrum of their operations, pitch their survival and existence, mostly around winning elections, especially presidential election. These are the already entrenched patterns of aspirations in Nigeria.

''That as it stands, APC has fielded and Nigeria has voted  Muhammadu Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And President Buhari is a northerner.

''That going by convention and the usual practice in Nigeria, Buhari will be exiting office on 29th May, 2023, after completing his constitutionally allowed eight (8) years in office. And thereafter, we appeal  that the south should be given a chance.

''That as Nigerians, we are fully convinced that the most viable way to re-enact and foster the common and agelong cooperation of power rotation between  north and south in Nigeria is to earnestly ask and call for the general support for a President from the south, which we believe that is due and very appropriate.

''That, for instance,  going by Chapter 1, Section 7(3)(a-c) of the PDP constitution (as amended 2017), for us to ensure equity, fairness and justice, our party- PDP, will zone and rotate political offices between north and south. And as it stands , the north has just produced  Senator Iyorchia Ayu, from Benue State, from the north, as the current National Chairman of our dear party, and his tenure will last for four years.

''That ,we believe to enthrone justice in PDP and in Nigeria, the south will be supported by all to produce the next presidential flag bearer of PDP. And this is our stand in the North Central.

''That in solidarity, we call on all PDP stakeholders in the south to rise up to this task and save our country, Nigeria, from the APC misrule. And let us be reminded that southern Nigeria has capable hands and competent leaders who can rescue and govern Nigeria more than the APC - Buhari government. And we call on all PDP stakeholders and the  entire Nigeria, to support the south''.

''In conclusion, that as the political events unfold,  we, the Coalition of North  Central Support Group, have affirmed to render unflinching support, loyalty and mobilisation to PDP aspirants, and a candidate from south, that will emerge as PDP presidential flag bearer, soonest.

''This is  our stand. Long live PDP! Long live Nigeria!!

PDP: Power to the people!!!

2023: Comrade Abdulazeez Yakasi charges youths to determine who governs Nigeria

Youths in Nigeria have been asked to form a formidable force towards ensuring that they determine who becomes the nation's President in 2023.

Comrade Abdulazeez Yakasi former Secretary General of the Nigeria Labour Congress gave the charge while addressing students drawn from all tertiary Institutions in Kogi State who gathered at the Kogi State Polytechnic in a program organised by the Students' Wing, Coalition of Northern Groups, Kogi State Chapter, Maitama Sule Leadership Lecture Series with the theme: Equitable Revenue Allocation: A Panacea For Agitation and Contestation in Nigeria.

The Chairman described 2023 as a defining moments for Nigerian Youths, stressed that 2023 is another time for rethink, urged the Youths to come together in love and in unity to move the country forward.

He said the bringing together of the Youths is to particularly sensitize them and urged them to put themselves together towards raising raising their consciousness as Nigerian's youths towards salvaging the country from its collective problems.

The Chairman described the revenue allocation as a vexed issue misunderstood differently by many in the country, said bringing them together became necessary so as to educate them on reasons why the skewed nature of the revenue allocation in the country has caused imbalance.

He urged the Youths to rise up, stand up, take their place as the history will not be kind to them if they allow the old Politicians to decide who governs them in 2023.

Dr. Bitrus Dangiwa, in a key note address, described late Elderstatesman, Maitama Sule as a patriot who believed in the Unity of Northern Nigeria, says towards 2023, the North is looking forward to Presenting a young Nigerian with competence and capacity to govern the country.

She said Nigeria must change her style of electing leaders, said the country cannot continue with poverty, unemployment and other issues of underdevelopment, as statistics have shown that young people are more in the poverty and unemployment bracket.

Knocks, anger, frustration trail independence celebration

Mixed reactions bordering on anger, frustration and outright despondency, today trail Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary with a resonating conclusion among many prominent Nigerians that the country has substantially failed to meet the aspiration of its founding fathers.

Those interviewed told Daily Sun that rather than celebrate today, it should be a time for sober reflections on the journey so far. They also believe that only such deep reflections would produce the needed panacea for the myriads of maladies bedeviling the country at present.

Nigerians should mourn 61 years of backwardness –Ezeife

Former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife believes that Nigeria has not made any progress in its 61-year chequered history as an independent nation. To him, Nigerians should be mourning 61 years of backward growth and not celebrate failure. “It has been 61 years of non-achievement; everything is comprehensively going negative. “We have been saying the same thing for many years without any result. So, it is quite unfortunate and saddening that instead of growing forward, we have been growing backward,” he said.

Military cause of our woes –Yakasai

Elder statesman and Second Republic Presidential Adviser, Tanko Yakasai has blamed military involvement in politics for Nigeria’s economic and political misfortunes.

He said the dreams of Nigeria’s founding fathers could have been substantially realised if civilians were allowed to remain in the leadership of the country..

Alhaji Yakasai affirmed that Nigeria has not been able to exploit its full potentials and stressed that military intervention in politics had stalled the pace of rapid growth and development that heralded Independence.

“So far, we have not achieved what we had hoped to achieve. What brought about this? There is no doubt that it was the military’s intervention into the politics of Nigeria.

“If political parties had been allowed to flourish uninterrupted, perhaps we would have been closer to our dreams. I have said this before that what we are operating is a military constitution and not a civilian one. And that the set of real civilians that came to power since 1999 to date are few. A lot of them came to power through the instrumentality of the good offices of the military.

“From 1999 to date, we have had four Presidents – Obasanjo , Buhari, Jonathan and Yar’Adua, that is two from the North and two from the South. The question is why is it that these people were not able to make progress? The answer is that these political parties were not the creation of the people of Nigeria. They were the creation of military fiat.

“I was a member of one of the two political parties at the time of their creation and I know how the two political parties came to be through the intervention of the military.

“And you should note that the richest people in Nigeria are either the military or the people who are close to the military.  So, until we create a situation whereby we have political parties who are the creation of the people, we may not be there.

“The trouble is that the military had tasted power and they do not want to leave the stage or to do without it.”

Speaking on the growing agitation for secession and break up of Nigeria by different groups in the country years after independence, Yakasai admitted that there were calls for seperation but added that, “The people who are making this call for separation are the minority, not ethnic minority, but numerical minority when compared to those who are not opposed to the oneness of the country”.

He added: “Younger people who got university education and hoped to get jobs, but the system has not provided jobs for them. The opportunities are not there, a reason they resort to this call for separation”.

“The matured people like Edwin Clerk and Adebanjo and all those who are in the vanguard for the restructuring of Nigeria, I have been asking  them to produce a road map of what they meant by restructuring,  to provide us with a blue print for a restructured Nigeria.

“You cannot just go about calling for a restructured Nigeria without telling the people exactly what you mean by restructuring and how the country should be recreated and this is the result of the restructuring. I still have hope in Nigeria as a united country, I have hope in Nigeria because nobody has been able to produce an alternative to the Nigeria project”

Nigeria has not been fair to ordinary man –Ambassador Yahaya Kwande

Former Ambassador to Switzerland, said he was not happy and that the nation has been unfair to the ordinary Nigerians.

He said: “When we took over the government from the colonial masters in the 60s compared with the development that we have now, we should have been placed better than where we are today. This is because we haven’t added much; but people will see that there is much in the sense of the numbers of schools. There used to be only one secondary school in the whole of Northern Nigeria, today we have millions, not thousands but the quality of people produced in that millions schools you cannot compare it with what it used to be.

“We have been very careless, we misunderstand what is a government, we seem not to understand what is a government. Government is to look after the welfare of the people it is governing; see about their health, see about their security, see about the education of their children so that we can progress. But is it what we are doing. How can you have somebody who is coming from secondary school that cannot spell right and cannot make correct sentence or whatever language he is learning?

There are no teachers; we just park children into dilapidated schools under trees. To school under trees would have been 50 or 100 years back now. We should be ashamed about our education and the environment we teach, we are going backward and backward.

Senator Ogbeha offers scholarship, donates cash, foodstuffs to motherless children to mark 74th birthday

By Stephen Adeleye

Senator Tunde Ogbeha has donated foodstuffs worth millions of naira, donated cash and granted academic scholarships to some motherless children at Ministry of Mercy (MOM) Orphanage in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The scholarship offer was part of the former Military Governor of old Bendel and Akwa Ibom states’ outreach to the less privileged in Kogi to mark his 74th birthday on Sunday in Lokoja.

Represented by his wife, Mrs, Esther Tunde-Ogbeha, the retired Army General donated cash and foodstuffs worth millions of Naira for the upkeep of children at the orphanage.

Mrs Ogbeha commended the management of MOM Orphanage for their dedicated service to God and humanity. She called on well meaning Nigerians to support orphans and other less privileged in the society.

''You are always in my prayers, at all times. It is obvious the children here are doing well, thank you for taking good care of them.

“I must commend the management of this orphanage and all care givers that have made sacrifices to ensure these children are well taken care of.

“My husband’s birthday comes up on September 1 but we have decided to start the celebrations with these wonderful children. Thank you for your regular prayers,” she said.

The proprietor of MOM Orphanage, Dr Daniel Aduojo, thanked the Ogbehas for always reaching out to the facility, saying the children in both of their orphanages in Lokoja and Dekina Local Government Areas, were always excited with the Ogbehas’ visit.

“Every time you come here to put smiles on our faces, you are making God happy because he calls these children his brothers and sisters.

Quoting from the Bible from the book of Matthew 25:31-40, he said: ''And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me''.

The proprietor stressed whatever we do to the children especially the orphans and the less privilege ones, we are doing it unto God.

“Here in Lokoja, we have less than 100 children but in Otutulu, we have about three hundred children. They are mostly motherless. Most of their mothers died during childbirth. Others were abandoned babies.

“Worried by the maternal mortality rate, my wife and I came up with a vision to establish a medical centre where pregnant women can access.

“In the last four years, all caesarian operation in our medical centre has been free of charge to ensure our mothers deliver safely.

''We want our mothers to live, take care of their children themselves and reap the fruits of their labour,” Aduojo said.

He prayed that God would reward the Ogbehas abundantly and grant them long life and prosperity in good health and sound mind.

The children and caregivers at the orphanage joined Mrs Ogbeha to cut the former Senator’s 74th birthday cake. They prayed that God grant him long life and enlarge his coast.

Items donated include: Jerricans of palm oil, many tubers of yam, 10 bags of 50kg of rice, several cartons of Honeywell Instant Noodles, bags of gari, cartons of: Infant food, detergents, biscuits, and cartons of vegetable oil.

Others were: Packs of diapers, cheese balls, and pop corn, cartons of: soaps, Honeywell spaghetti, and peak sachets, and several bags of semovita, among others.

Kogi Debacle and The Unfinished Business by Muhammed Bashir

It is no longer news that Kogi State has become a political laboratory in the country, since the unfortunate demise of the APC governorship candidate in the November 21, 2015 gubernatorial election, Prince Abubabar Audu.
