"Second FC Ebedei stadium will be world-class" - Joshua Adamu

FIFA and CAF-certified sports facility expert and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alan Smith, Joshua Adamu has informed plans to deliver another world-class stadium for FC Ebedei.

Joshua Adamu gave the hint of the plan while in a media chat with Family United By Football (FUBF) an informative sports group on a social media platform- WhatsApp.

According to the Innovative and energy-driven sports facility manager of repute, "The FC Ebedei Stadium is three years old and still counting and it's still looking new. This is because quality was not compromised, and the core expert was used.

"Interestingly, the stadium is about the only pitch in Nigeria presently running fully on the French drain. You don't see any open drainage on the pitch.

"All drainages are underground and it's also one of the few pitches in Nigeria on full shock pads, not the usual underlays.

"So that gives the pitch extra cushion effects, and the players will be able to enjoy it and that's why experts and scouts that have visited the pitch have been commending the work done there.

"By the grace of God, this year, FC Ebedei will be having its second stadium ready. That will be coming with a better quality and new look. They say the reward for good work is more work.

"We are proudly associated with that pitch and we intend to build on it. What you see there is simple quality and no compromise."

Oliseh discusses impact of sports to societal transformation at TREM

Barrister Churchill Oliseh, President of FC Ebedei says sports can arguably be employed, deployed, to drive, aid, usher, facilitate, and endure a deep and sustained systematic change in culture, civilization, and even religious faith.

Oliseh, a lawyer, football investor, and administrator was the speaker at this year’s Breeding Leaders for Empowerment And National Transformation (BLENT), hosted by Dr. Mike Okonkwo, The Presiding Bishop Of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) and broadcasted from TREM’s international headquarters, in Gbagada-Lagos to all branches across the world.

The President of the professionally managed Nigeria National League (NNL) club, in his 5-page detailed lecture titled: “The impact of Sport on societal transformation: The Nigerian Football Story”, talked about how sports can do social transformation via the economy it drives, national identity, and unity it gives.

The health and physical well-being, it sustains and improves. The youth development it facilitates, employment it generates, and revenue and foreign exchange it earns. The infrastructural revolution it brings and encourages, as most developed nations see sport as the fourth arm of their military.

Listening with rapt attention, Oliseh, a football administrator guru and motivational speaker held the massive TREM auditorium spellbound while giving details about Nigeria’s golden era in football, with unbroken records, and how the era ended.

“Empirically football was introduced into Nigeria with the assistance and activities of the early missionaries. With time it became a vehicle for city congregation and representation. So we had teams like Port Harcourt XI, Ibadan XI, Enugu XI. It grew and by the 40s and 50s, we had attained a national team for Nigeria.

“The Golden Era saw Nigeria qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and a 2nd Round finish, win the 1994 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia, Olympic gold medal in Atlanta USA, in 1996, and qualify for its second Mundial in France.

“In the millennium, the Nigerian flag was visibly present at the Japan/Korea World Cup in 2002. In club football, Enyimba became the first Nigerian team to win a back-to-back CAF Champions League after winning it in 2003.

“Nigeria became a global brand, feared and loved, even the Military Regimes of the day leveraged our football success. We spoke in One voice and proudly sang the national anthem and saluted the Nigerian flag.

"Unfortunately, the ease and fortuitous nature of our attaining the golden era became our undoing, due to the absence of a policy/program to replace the players of that era.

"Deliberate global policy to deny Nigeria and Africa access to the foreign Resources and technology Africa relied on in conquering and challenging the World. Hijack of Nigerian football by incompetence, ineptitude, maladministration, and outright banditry."

Above all 'The Qatar Story' model is an eye-opener on why sport can impact societal transformation. A nation, he said was previously in the shadows of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E), seen as area that had nothing to offer. But with their natural gas wealth, Qatar sought a societal transformation and chose football/sports as the medium.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup cost Qatar an estimated: - $200B/ N150 Trillion in infrastructure and $6.5B/#5.2 trillion on stadia construction. The Qatar minister for finance once admitted to spending $500m/ N400B weekly for many years on infrastructure towards hosting the world cup.

The outcome of the huge investment, A state-of-the-art infrastructure, the destination of choice, the major global player even politically, global hub/ Qatar Airlines. Followership and Global goodwill, national pride, and the sudden rise in the involvement and engagement of Qatari youths hitherto the contrary was the case.

Meet Top 5 talent developers in Nigerian football

The business of football comes with daily transactions on and off the pitch.

While the key actors, that is, the footballers battle day and night for fame and wealth, the clubs, do their own business in the background, looking for sponsors or negotiating the next big transfers.

Most transfers comes after months or even years of scouting and there is always a third party in most cases who stands in for the players at the negotiation stage.

In years gone by, one of the most respected football agents to come out of Nigeria, is a certain John Ola Shittu, who took the football world by storm with the sale of John Obi Mikel to Manchester United and later Chelsea within a spate of a few weeks

Shittu made megabucks from that singular business, a deal that esterblished him as one of Africa's best talent spotter.

After Shittu, a few other Nigerians have made headlines in their own right with the sale of emerging and esterblished football stars to top European, African, Asian and South American clubsides.

We will attempt to highlight the top five football intermediaries in Nigeria based on pedigree, performance and results in the last 3 years.

1. Hajji Liameed Gafar

This Badagry born chairman and finacier of Lagos based 36LION football club, stands out amongst his contemporaries as the shinning light in today's football business.

Renowned for the role he played in the sale of Nigerian internationals like Ezekiel Imoh, Junior Ajayi, Peter Olayinka and the rest to top European and African clubsides, Gafar is more than a football intermediary. His international connect is second to none.

No wonder, he played a bit part role in the deal that took Victor Osimhen from Lille Metropol of France to Napoli of Italy and Sunusi Mohammed from Nasarawa United of Lafia to Montreal impact football club of Canada.

From January 2022 and now, Gafar has been directly or indirectly involved in the sale of over 20 footballers within and outside Africa and is not looking like stopping anytime soon.

2. Churchill Oliseh

After setting up his pet project the FC Ebedei academy, which later metamorphosed into an amateur clubside renowned for identifying budding Nigeria talents and exporting them abroad for cash.

FC Ebedei came into limelight in 1998, but the actual events that led to its formation came as far back as 1993. The president and founder of the club, Barrister Churchill Oliseh, had ventured into players’ representation as a legal practitioner and an astute sports businessman, one of the few successful ones in in Nigeria as at then.

He succeeded in having a very strong link in Denmark, especially FC Midtjylland, a top Danish club, reputed for snapping up intelligent Nigerian footballers at very young age, before selling them to top European clubsides.

Two of his biggest transactions till date were recorded in the sale of Nigeria internationals, Paul Onuachu who is now with Southampton and Frank Onyeka who plies his trade at Brentford football club of England

3. Nureni Makanjuola

Nureni Makanjuala popularly called MK by his admirers is the owner and finacier of Water FC Academy, an academy notorious for discovering most of Abuja's finest football talents.

Mk has been in this business for over one decades but got his first major breakthrough with the sale of Babatunde Michael, a player who shone like a million stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Micheal got injured at some point in that competition but his exploits in Brazil helped facilitate a big money move to Raja Casablanca of Morocco.

Apart from Michael, another Super Eagles invitee, Okechukwu Gabriel also once played for Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

The likes of Emeka Chinonso and Oladoye Adewale who only recently joined Gent, a first division clubside in Belgium, are also products of Water FC Academy

4. GBS Academy Jos, Plateau State

Coach Bros, owner and financier of the famous GBS Academy in Jos Plateau state,  is unaguably one of the best football agents in the land today. He's calm, cool and always calculated. He goes about his job with the intelligence of Jorge Mendez and the meekness of the late Mino Raiola.

He has combed the city of Jos and environs for the best football talents available and today, he has over 50 talented footballers scattered across Europe and Asia. The GBS Academy in Bukuru, Jos, is the breeding ground for talents. Current Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa was discovered by coach Bros and in appreciation of his impact in his life, Musa only recently named his child after the man who is worshipped in Plateau state and rose to position of technical director at Plateau United.

Like Ejuke, over 20 players of Ikon Allah Academy have found their way into Europe and North Africa in the last three years. Just three weeks ago, the club sold four more players outside the shores of Nigeria while six more have been penciled down for Summer tranfers.

Ikon Allah Academy has a rich reputation, as one of the best football academies in Northern Nigeria. The organizational and administrative framework of this club, is second to none. Alansmith Nig Ltd Recommend FC Ebedei Pitch To Nigerian League Teams

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FIFA and CAF certified synthetic pitch installation firm, Alansmith Nigeria Limited, Joshua Adamu, has recommended Nationwide League One side, FC Ebedei pitch to clubs in the Nigerian leagues.

The CEO who recently sealed a partnership deal with the organisers of Nigeria’s foremost pre-season tournament, the Ogunjobi Gold Cup explained why the artificial pitch is the best in Nigeria as against natural turfs.

"I have been through it and seen it all. For a fact, the reason why I opt for and recommend the synthetic pitches to clients is because of our maintenance culture, nature and type of people we are in Nigeria to be specific.

"Ask me why and I would tell you, we do not have a good number of turfs that can accommodate our football culture and the number of people playing the game.

"One natural turf, you have people train daily, morning and evening, play matches at weekends, host tournaments, friendly games and novelty matches on it, such a turf won't last the test of time.”

He added “Natural turfs are designed to host just Saturday matches, and not train on them like they do in Europe. But here in Nigeria, you have teams train on them daily and sadly cars drive on them during events like political rallies, concerts and others. That's why they don't last long.

"However,  it's only the artificial turfs that can withstand that pressure. Thankfully, the Federation of International Football Association(FIFA) has approved them, as all one has to do is to make sure that they meet standards and precision.”

Speaking on why he recommends the newly installed turf at the FC Ebedei Stadium in Sagamu to league sides in Nigeria, the CEO of Alansmith disclosed.

“The FIFA specified turfs we install on pitches in Nigeria were tested at LaboSports in Europe, we have specifications that allow for speed, ball bounce and ankle movement for players all tested and proven to be accurate.

“So if one maintains that standard, you won't have any problem differentiating between natural and artificial turf.

"In Europe, as we speak, countries with harsh or difficult weather like Russia or Eastern Europe use artificial turfs, so it's not only peculiar to Nigeria."

"The FC Ebedei brand is unique and personal to me, we had the project from start to finish in 120 days despite been installed during the rain period and of course the congestion at the seaport.

"The 60mm FIFA standard artificial turf, shock pad, and French drained pitch will allow the teams to have a good feel of the professional surface."

Oliseh ranks FC Ebedei Stadium as FIFA, CAF standard

Barrister Churchill Oliseh has revealed that the FC Ebedei Stadium in Sagamu meets all FIFA and CAF requirements as it can host high profile international matches.

The President of the reputable and professionally managed football club in Nigeria also confirmed that it took the contractors less than four months to deliver the world-class project.

According to him, "The FC Ebedei Stadium was one of our biggest priorities, we liased with different experts in the field and opted for the very best.

"We used premium FIFA quality astroturf grass produced in Europe with high tech underlay and shock pads for the pitch.

"The technology is to help protect players against the side effects of other types of artificial grass and base.

"The spine of the grass enables sliding without lacerations for the player's thus enhancing improved performance on the pitch and protection too."

The stadium is set to host the 9th edition of Nigeria's most prestigious pre-season tournament, the Ogunjobi Gold Cup in October.
