#KogiGovRace: Audu Picks Rep as Deputy, Vows to Restore Rotation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has picked a member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Falake, as his running mate for the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State.

Falake was presented to APC stalwarts during the inauguration of Audu’s campaign council in Lokoja.
Audu had in his speech, yesterday, described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a dead party in Kogi, adding that it would be  buried after the November 21 governorship election.
But in a swift reaction, Bode Ogunmola, the spokesman of PDP in the state, urged Audu to “mind his business.”
Audu had earlier commended  the leadership of the APC for conducting what he described as “free, fair, credible and transparent primary”  poll, acknowledging the courage and maturity displayed by the aspirants.
Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, the state chairman of the party, also congratulated Audu, urging him to embrace everybody.
Meanwhile, Audu said, yesterday, that if voted into power, he will implement the 1991 Kogi Tripartite Agreement for the rotation of power among the Igala, Ebira and Okun ethnic groups.
Prince Audu stated this in a statement issued by his media group.
Kogi power rotation agreement was signed shortly after the creation of the state to ensure representation of major ethnicities of the state.
The statement said: “I am the only Igala man that can stand in Idah, Anyigba, Ankpa and tell our people enough is enough and reciprocate the cooperative gesture of the Igbira and Okun people by 2019.
“The challenges of political domination and marginalisation of the Igalas in old Benue State on one hand, Okuns and Ebiras in old Kwara State on the other hand,  led to intense agitation for creation of Kogi State for the three groups who had lived together peacefully under the defunct Kabba province for more than 70 years.”
