Niger Tornadoes Wins NNL Super 4 Championship


Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna have emerged the winners of the 2014/2015 Nigeria National League Super Four after defeating Plateau United Football Club of Jos 1-0 in Abuja on Sunday.

Lukman Mohammed’s 59th minute penalty sealed win for the Minna darling team in a keenly contested finals at the Abuja National Stadium.
Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper, 
Mustapha Salihu, stole the show for his side with scintillating saves to ensure victory for his team and was voted the Most Valuable Player.
Speaking after the match,
Tornadoes Coach, Abdullah Biffo, expressed excitement winning the Super Four once again, having won it while he was with Giwa FC two seasons ago.
While dedicating the trophy to the government of Niger State, the Players, other members of technical crew, Supporters, fans and other stake holders of football in the state, Biffo vowed to improve the fortune of the team before the Premier League season kicks off as he also commends his wards for an improve performance in the finals of the Super Four.
Earlier in the day, MFM FC of Lagos and Ikorodu United of Lagos decided the losers finals on penalties after the full-time ended 2-2, with MFM winning 4-2 on penalties.
Ikorodu United attacker’s Augustine Candy pace was too much for MFM defenders, forcing them to commit two penalty kicks, with both kicks converted by Olisema Cyril in the fifth and 29th minute.
MFM got back into the game as they capitalized on defensive blunders to pull back in the 20th and 32nd minute via goals by Onajite Tuomero and Monday Shnishnima.
Ikorodu United goalkeeper, Jimmy Bello, was sent off after obstructing Akuneto Nnamdi’s goal bound move.
Ikorodu United Olisema Cyril and Balogun Kabir lost their side kicks, while Brossa Shola lost one MFM kick.
Nigeria National League Super Four is staged annually to produce the true champion of the second tier league in the country.
