Chinedu Sunday: A defender with a class

Kwara United's Chinedu Sunday Chukwu from Nkanu, Nkanu East of Enugu State is blessed with good physique-1.9m tall, which naturally makes him physically imposing and imperious in the air.

The 21 year old big hearted central defender who started hitting the limelight from GABROS FC and at a point captained UNEWI UNITED, he eventually joined KWARA UNITED  from ABIA COMETS FC this football season and has since remains consistent in Harmony Boys squad.

Being a consistent, versatile, confident, dependable and purposefully adventurous defender with unobtrusive abilities he has three [3] goals in his kitty in the on going Premier League Season.

Kwara United prodigious talented defender has 21 appearances, and 1890 minutes of active performance out of 22 matches played so far this season with three goals which account for 15% of the total goals scored by the team. The ace central defender has made header goals part of his game so much so that he has used it to change the fortunes of his darling team.

He opened scoring for Kwara United with what was also his first goal for the team in the recent 2-1 drubbing of Kano Pillars in the on going 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 14 in Ilorin at 64'. Sunday  snaked through the defense and guided himself like a missile towards the ball, rising out vertically above all others to score the goal with his head to equalize Jr. Lakosa 27' strike.

In the same vein, in match day 15 at Ajure Township Stadium, Akure, Sunday went airborne at 74' to convert a stunning goal against Sunshine Stars, darting past the last line of defense before thrusting his head forward and knocking the balk in past Ayodele Henry, the goal also helped the Harmony Boys to pick yet another point on the wheel.

In yet another torrid encounter with Yobe Dessert Stars in Ilorin, Sunday again gave the Harmony Boys the much needed 3 points when he stormed from seemingly out of nowhere to bang the ball home for the goal to make it 2-1 at 66' for Harmony Boys.

Sunday Chinedu has been showcasing his magical trademark skills that made him the toast of football fans across the length and breath of the country.

Soccer athletes usually earn praise for the amazing ways they can control the ball with their feet. Also, players need to use their heads to make things happen. Whether it is in league matches or scrimmage ora pickup match with friends in the park, a well timed header can be the difference between winning and losing.

Success with soccer headers is not just about being tall - it is about having a sense for the game, maneuvering past defenders, and appearing exactly the right place at exactly the right time to nod the ball into the net. CHINEDU SUNDAY CHUKWU epitomises these.
