Dr Tijani, Ex-NMA Chairman Bags Fellowship Award of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria

Dr Godwin Atayi Tijani, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kogi State chapter, has bagged the award of the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 


Tijani, who is the National committee Chairman on Gender Based violence of the National NMA, received the honor at the convocation ceremony held at the College on Thursday in Lagos.


 With this academic and clinical award, Dr Tijani is now a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, and qualified to be appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in any Tertiary Hospital in and around the world. 


Tijani was able to bag this fellowship award after six years of rigorous academic and clinical residency study.



Dr Tijani had his residency training at Federal Medical Centre Lokoja, Kogi State, one of centre accredited by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria to train resident doctors to become a specialist in different field of Medicine.


In the same vein, the University of Schleswig Holstein-Kiel Germany last week, awarded Dr Tijani, an advanced Diploma in Assisted Reproductive Technology and Reproductive Medicine.


The advanced diploma award, has made Dr Tijani acquired more knowledge in Assisted Reproductive, a subspecialty in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 


This award would enable him to assist couples who are having challenges in giving birth due to infertility. 


Infertility is one of the public health challenges in this part of the world where couples find it very difficult to raise children due to problems from woman, the man or both couples.
