Allsvenskan: Amoo hails Hammarby vital win at IK Sirus

Nigerian midfielder Akinkunmi Amoo was once again at his brilliant best for Swedish side Hammarby IF as they matched on to yet another important victory away from home following their 1-0 win at IK Sirus on match day 25 of the Allsvenskan.

On the back of three consecutive wins in all competitions, the visitors handed the tricky Nigerian his 16th league start of the campaign with Amoo hoping to add to his 12 goals tally in the league already.

The 19-year-old almost got off to the perfect start for the visitors when he raced off to a loose ball in the midfield before going past two markers but his fierce left foot shot went inches wide much to the joy of the home fans.

The Former Golden Eaglet midfielder was at it again a minute later when he set up Gustav Ludwigson but the striker's goal bound effort was well saved by the goalkeeper with Hammarby winning a corner from it.

The visitors then made their constant pressure count half way through the half when defender Richard Magyar tapped home from a goal-mount scramble to give Hammarby a deserved 1-0 lead, a lead they held going into the break.

Amoo then took off from where he left off in the second half and almost doubled Hammarby’s lead on the hour mark but a last-ditched sliding tackle from Marcus Mathisen ensured scores remained at 1-0.

The Nigerian then almost sealed the win ten minutes from time but some bit of selfish play saw him fire straight at the goalkeeper from close range with striker partner Gustav a better option should the Nigerian had passed the ball for him to tap home.

That miss almost cost the visitors all three points as the host hit the post from the subsequent attack but Hammarby held on for their 12th win of the campaign and moved just four points behind 3rd place AIK in their pursuit for European Football.

“+3 points, away win. We are climbing up Massive support from the traveling fans. #Bajen, Amoo posted afterwards.

The Eagles hopeful completed 6 of his 9 take ons, the most in the encounter, winning 11 duels, completing 85% of his passes and making two key passes.
