After the exit of Jose Peseiro as the Head coach of the Super Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) declaring the position vacant, a United Kingdom professional licenced coach, Donald Malomo-Paris has declared interest for the job, reports www.totorinews.com.
In an exclusive chat with www.totorinews.com, Malomo-Paris said that it is time for a Nigerian coach to tinker the affairs of the Super Eagles and it will be honour to serve the most populous black nation in the world in that capacity.
He noted that Alhaji Ibrahim Gusua -led board of the NFF have made giant strides with the Super Eagles as witnessed at the last AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast and he hopes that the best candidate will be appointed to lead senior national team.
"There is no doubt that the NFF led by Ibrahim Gusau is doing well. At least there is sincerity of purpose. The Super Eagles is a national asset, a big football brand in the world, not just in Africa and i think a Nigerian is worth leading the team," Donald Malomo-Paris said.
"As a qualified Nigerian coach with a UK professional licenced coach, it is my desire to offer my service to the motherland.
I have sent in my application to the NFF for the Super Eagles job.
"After Jose Peseiro, Nigeria have to look inwards for the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. Ideally, he should be a Nigerian, a professional licenced coach.
"The big question is who is the best Nigerian candidate? He asked and he also answered the question.
"There should be highly qualified Nigerian football coaches, both within and outside that should be assembled by the NFF and put through a robust interview process leading to the selection of the best candidate that will improve the fortunes of the national team.
"Nigerians want to see improvement of the Super Eagles, in terms of style of play, strong winning mentality, high sense of patriotism and raising the standards to the highest elite level, which our players are used to in the various European clubs," he said.
