Tornadoes set for winning start at Minna against Abia Warriors


Niger Tornadoes will host Abia Warriors in the Matchday 10 of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL encounter at their traditional home ground Bako Kontogora Stadium for the first time since gaining promotion to the elite season three seasons ago.
               
Niger Tornadoes will come into the game without the services of coach Erasmus Onu who was asked to leave the club after poor performance and results. 

Chief Coach Hamza Abara will the lead the team against the Ochendo boys on Sunday which will see the young coach to take full charge of the team at the ikon Allah boys in their original home ground Bako Kotongora Stadium which has been renovated to the meet the standard of the League Management Company.

Niger Tornadoes slipped to the bottom of the league log for the first time this season after kicking the season with two straight wins against Kwara United in Ilorin and FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

COACH COMMENTS

Chief coach Hamza Abara is optimistic that the ikon Allah boys will swim of the relegation waters " We are working round the clock to come out victorious this Sunday against Abia Warriors"

"Abia Warriors are a good side, because I know some couple of their players. But we need to put the smiles back to the faces of our fans"

It going to be a tough game I must confess, but at the end of the day, we will come out victorious".

THE VISITORS
This is the first time Abia Warriors will travel to Minna to face the host the host will be hoping to continue their sudden form against Niger Tornadoes this Sunday after beating Yobe Desert Stars at home.
While there are positive feelings to play at home, which the home team could bank on, the Ikoh Allah’s side can only hope to bounce back to winning ways as they sits bottom on the log. They lost their last travel 2-0 to Rivers United and can only boast of just one win in their last five matches.
THE VISITORS
Meanwhile, Abia Warriors of Umuahia who have not also been fantastic in their previous ties, although show good characters in their last home matches against Yobe Desert Stars, winning 3-1 will perhaps hope to consolidate this weekend.
Apparently, the two clubs are not alien to one another, meetings in the past have suggested that it might be a tight encounter on Sunday as its been previously. It ended in 2017, Niger Tornadoes 0-0 Abia Warriors and Niger Tornadoes 2-1 Abia Warriors in the year 2016 at Tornadoes’ adopted home ground, Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
All eyes would be on Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna as its set to host the North Central club, Ikoh Allah versus  South Eastern side Umuahia Warriors in a league contest on Sunday, February 25, 2018, for the first time. Kickoff time is 4 pm.
