NNL: First away win delights Remo Stars Ogwuche, Lasisi

Ogwuche Mathias inspired Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) to a hard fought 0-1 victory over Southwest rivals, Osun United FC in one of Group B2 opening fixtures in the Nigeria National League (NNL) on Saturday in Oshogbo, Osun State.

Ogwuche netted his first goal for the club in the 63rd minute of the game latching onto Solomon John's pass before fighting hard to overcome his markers to convert brilliantly for the Sky Blue Stars.

Speaking with RSFC Media, the former Stationery Stores and Dream International forward says he feels satisfied netting his first goal for the club (Remo Stars) in his debut match against the Omoluabi Giants.

"The victory is a good thing, I am very happy because we have trained a lot for the game, so going for the game and also winning it is something special for us. I will first appreciate God and also the Coach (Fatai Osho) for the hard work put in place for us."

"When we prepared for the game, the coach emphasized more on the strikers about goalscoring skills and others things, it has always been difficult to get the goals since I joined the team, I scored just two (2) goals in the preseason games but when I was called upon to take the lead role against Osun United, all I focused on was to get the goal to prove people wrong that I am a better striker that has come to help the team and I am very happy I got a goal in my first game."

"I know I tried my best in that game because I had to put my all in all in that game and also to make people believe so much in me."

"When I joined the team, I asked few questions about previous strikers that have played for the club and their good performances, so I had it straight in me that I can work more to perform better than them and my target is for me to gain promotion to topflight football and also be the highest goalscorer for both the club (Remo Stars) and the league (NNL). He concluded.

Meanwhile, the Captain on the day, Saheed Lasisi also expressed his contentment captaining the victorious side over the weekend against Osun United FC.

"I appreciate God Almighty, its the first game of the league and also captaining a side that got maximum points away from home is a good thing to behold and it will go down well in my history book."

"We played well, I am satisfied with the game because it was a derby game and also tensed, the team is really happy and we are working towards gaining promotion back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)"

"The team is relatively new, we have quality from our old players and also the new ones are exceptional so it is going to boil down to team work and I am sure we will do the club and the fans proud." He said.

The Sky Blue Stars will travel away from Sagamu, Ogun State to take on Stationery Stores of Lagos in Match Day 2 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) next week Saturday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium
