Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia Chairman, Pastor Emeka Inyama has expressed surprise on the Award of Excellence (Sports Administrator of the year 2017) invested on him by the investigative news magazine “VERBATIM”, describing it as a reward for the passionate commitment of government and people of Abia State in Sports and Youth Development.
Inyama, a veteran journalist, politician and sports administrator of high repute, said although the award came to him as a surprise, he knew that with the various sustainable reforms that have been put in place in Abia Warriors, such an honour was inevitable.
“We have succeeded in this short period to reposition Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia in such a way that it would compete favorably with the best football clubs in country. We have consistently made the development
of grassroots players our fulcrum, and this has necessitated the establishment of an U-13 and U-15 Football Academy in the team, which incidentally is the first among all the Premiership clubs in the country.

"We have one of the best digital Club Secretariats in the country, which provides our staff the most conducive environment to perform their duties, and very soon, Abia Warriors which is a community based club, will be quoted in the stock market”, he said.
According to him, his Board and Management are totally committed to ensuring that the club also performs excellently in all the competitions it participated in.
Pastor Inyama was full of appreciation to the Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and people of Abia State for their untiring support and love for the club and promised that the Sports Personality Award invested on him, will propel him to work harder in order to take the club to the next level.
