The Technical Director, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Damian Ohaike on Wednesday said other sports in the country can make Nigeria proud if more attention is paid to them.
Bello disclosed this to naijacombatcorner after Odunayo Adekuoroye won her 4th bout at the ongoing Pro Wrestling League in India.
He said that other sports, if properly funded, could bring glory to the country.
According to him, other sports like athletics, Judo, Taekwondo and Wrestling have continue to represent and win medals for the country but have not been recognized.
Ohaike said at the last All Africa Games which was held at Congo, Brazzaville, football took both male and female but were able to get 1 medal adding that it took the intervention of other sport to skyrocket the medals table for Nigeria.
“These sports that are making Nigeria should be properly funded if they want more from them” Ohaike added.
“So, I believe that with more support, the team will definitely go places at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“What we actually want is for government to address the issue of inadequate funding to various sports in the country,’’ he said.
