Kogi East Senate Seat:‎ Aspirant Promise True Tepresentation

All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial aspirant in the Kogi Eastern Senatorial District, Comrade Danjuma Usman Okutepa, has promised to provide a robust representation to the area in the Senate if voted in the 2016 election.

The federal court of appeal had had quashed the election of Senator Abdul Abubakar representing Kogi East under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and ruled that fresh senatorial election be conducted in Kogi Eastern senatorial district within ninety days.

Though the embattled Senator Abubakar may be running for the party's ticket again, but he may face yet another strong opposition within the party, as major stake holders in the area, are already backing a more youthful aspirant, Comrade Danjuma Usman Okutepa.

Okutepa in an interview with Journalists, shortly after the 40th Fidau prayers of the late Prince Abubakar Audu at Ogbonicha in Ofu local government area of Kogi State, promised to fight against the neglect on Kogi east if elected to represent the zone under the platform of the APC.

He said the Senate is meant for the experienced politicians and therefore people who are experienced like him should be given the opportunity to represent his senatorial district at the Red Chamber.

He said, "My inspiration to vie for the Senate is to give a robust representation to the people of Kogi Eastern Senatorial District and the people of Nigeria at large."

"I will ensure that through lobbying and whatever we have within our system we have good legislation; good laws that can make Nigerians comfortable. Kogi State has been good to me and I believe I owe the community of Kogi, service and that is why I want to serve Kogi."

"I am going to fight to ensure that Kogi state be given it recognition, because I believe that Kogi should be given special status like Abuja, since it was one time Nigeria capital," he added.

Okutepa promised to work towards enacting law that will guarantee minimum price for agriculture products if given the opportunity, explaining that “with that, people will be ready to work; this will ensure increase food production and employment opportunities in the country.”

The aspirant said that the claims of lack of job in Nigeria were wrong, saying Nigeria was said to be short of Police, Teachers and Doctors among others, saying that effort should be made to create necessary platform that will engage the people in productive ventures.

In his own tribute to late Prince Abubakar Audu, Okutepa, described the late politician as a loving father, an inspirational leader, defender of the rights of underprivileged in the society.

Extolling the virtues of the late Sage, Okutepa urged the people to learn the lesson that every human being has a date with death and must try to live a life in accordance with the dictates of their religion.
