Kwara United Unveils Coach John Obuh

Former Flying Eagles handler, Coach John Sam Obuh was on Saturday eveningunveiled as the new Technical Adviser of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin.



Obuh was staging a return to the club he guided from the National League to Premier League in 2008/2009 season, and has been handed the same mandate, after the club got relegated to the National League last season.
While unveiling the coach, the Chairman of the club, Prince Oladimeji Thompson said that the club will be re-branded and re-positioned, even as he called for the support of all the stakeholders towards achieving the set goals.
He commended the state government for supporting the club despite all the challenges, adding that the club will resume fully today (Monday) to begin preparation for the season, as all the players have been asked to resume.

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Pharmacist Kale Ayo, who expressed displeasure with the team’s relegation to the second tier League, said that government is prepared to re-structure and re-brand the team, as is committed to the cause of the team.

He charged the coach to replicate the 2008/2009 feat with the team, as he called on stakeholders, fans and supporters of the club to get behind the team.
The Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Busari Ishola urged the stakeholders to stop working against the team.

Also, the Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem assured the team of total support, adding that the Supporters and the Fans’ Club have a role to play to get the team back to the Premier League.

In his response after signing the dotted lines, Coach John Sam Obuh commended the state Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed and Kwarans for the opportunity given him, and for the financial commitment to the club.

He assured of his commitment, dedication and utmost professionalism in his quest to not only take the club back to the Premier League, but to re-position and re-structure the technical crew to meet the standard obtainable all over the world.
