Nasarawa United FC have concluded arrangements to camp in Ilorin ahead of this year's CAF Confederation Cup competition.
The 'Solid Miners'
have been drawn against Generation Foot of Senegal in the first round of
this year's Confederation of African Football second tier club
competition.
In a chat with
Daily Trust yesterday, club chairman, Barrister Isaac Danladi said the
decision to move the camp of the team out of Lafia is to ensure maximum
concentration from the players and coaching crew.
He said "we are
hoping that by this weekend, the team will go for an exclusive camping
outside Lafia for full concentration. We shall camp in Ilorin to run
away from unnecessary distractions to ensure that the boys blend in
terms of attitude and character on and off the pitch".
Danladi also
disclosed that before the team go into close camping, six players would
be dropped to pave way for new players that have been contacted to come
and beef up the team.
"We are trying to
engage the services of quality players. Negotiations are on with their
clubs so it will be premature to mention their names here. We are also
going to retain most of the players who prosecuted the season for us.
However, we are going to drop six players to accommodate the new ones
who will be coming in. So I am confident that at the end of the day, we
are going to have a formidable squad. So what we are trying to do now is
to fine tune the team so that the new players will blend with the old
ones", he said.
