Kogi Governor Sets Conditions for Payment of Workers

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello has pledged to pay full salaries to workers in the state’s civil service.


Speaking at a meeting with Permanent Secretaries and heads of government Agencies and Parastatals, the Governor  said his administration is determined to cater for the welfare of the workers, enjoining them to cooperate with his administration in its determination to reposition public service and make it effective and efficient.
However, the Governor has directed all civil servants to help in weeding out ghost workers from the state. He stated that the wage bill has been over-bloated by over 300%, stating that ghost workers were partly responsible for the astronomical rise in wages in the state.
To qualify for payment of the one month salary promised by the Governor, civil servants are directed to complete a verification form with the following information:
1. First Appointment /Employment Letter
2. Confirmation of Appointment /Employment Letter
3. All promotion Letters
4. Statement of Salaries Account or Payslips for the last 24 months (bank waiver)
5. Copy of Staff Identity Card
6. Personal Credentials such as State of Origin Certificate, Birth Certificate and Academic Credentials.
Upon satisfaction of the above conditions, the workers shall be immediately be paid their salaries without further delay.
The Governor appeals to civil servants to fully cooperate in realizing the objective of blocking loopholes in the finances of government, assuring the workers of better days ahead.
