Aremu returns to action in St. Pauli defeat to Hannover

St. Pauli midfielder Afeez Aremu made a return from injury against Hannover as they returned to German Bundesliga 2 action on Sunday.

Before today's action, the Super Eagles' prospect missed St. Pauli's last seven games due to injury.

Aremu picked up harmstring injury which ruled him out for several weeks.

The injury prevented him from playing for his team in matches against FC Schalke 04, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Holstein Kiel, Erzgebirge Aue, Hamburger SV, Paderborn and Jahn Regensburg.

The former Akwa United midfielder recovered and was handed his 14th league game of the season against Hannover at Millerntor-Stadion (Hamburg).

He replaced Eric Anders Smith after the hour mark as the match ended 3-0 in favour of Hannover.

St. Pauli won just three games without their star midfielder when he was nursing the injury.

Afeez Aremu's return to fitness will be a relief to coach Timo Schultz whose dream of leading the Neighbourhood Kickers to German top flight is still intact.
