NNL: ABS Saw Hell in Sapele

Ahmed Abdallah, Welfare officer of Abubakar Bukola Saraki, ABS Ilorin FC, has said that his team saw hell in Sapele, Delta State during the Week 13 of the Nigeria National League, NNL against J. Atete FC.

Ahmed described the action of J. Atete players, officials and fans as unfortunate which has put the league into disrepute.

Abdallah said hell was let loose when ABS Ilorin equalized against their hosts to make the game 1-1, as they (J. Atete players, officials and fans) battered his players and officials as if they were armed robbers.

It would be recalled that J. Atete players and officials encroached the field of play with 13 minutes left of normal time before their fans joined them with result being 1-1 at the time.

"We had demanded that security be reinforced before we start the game.

"We only had 8 police men to start the match with but we later agreed to play under protest.

"I'm surprised why they treated us like that, because we didn't deserve such treatment.

"They misbehaved in our home ground (Ilorin) but we tolerated them and treated them like our brothers.

"I'm in doubt over the fitness of some of our players in our last game of the season, because of the attack on them.

"The fans beat the match officials as if they were armed robbers, it was a sad situation" Abdallah said.

The ABS Welfare Officer who expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigeria National League (NNL) called on them to do justice to the matter.

He urged the board NNL to have a more closer look at the league because it is the foundation for the Apex league.
