Match Report: Nnewi United held Ikorodu United in Lagos


Fatai Abdullah resqued a point for Ikorodu United against Nnewi United in the match day 4 of the 2016/2017 Nigerian National League (NNL).

The away team (Nnewi United) took the lead 7th minutes into the game from a loss ball which they(Nnewi United) took advantage off and made it 1-0.

Moments after the oga boys were awared a spot kick after Chinedu Nwuso handled the ball in the 18yard box. Fatai stepped up to send the Nnewi United man between the post a wrong way and it was game on 1-1 in 10th minutes.

Ikorodu United created few chances to score more goals but settled for long rang shots by Omini Somtochukwu and Fatai Abdullah who took over the midfield in the first half.

The home team continued the second half by relying on long rang shooting which nearly worked in the 60th minutes , after Omini's shot from 35yards which the Nnewi United keeper was able to punch for a corner kick.

Shortly after a glorious chance fell to Jude Aneke who found himself unmarked in the 18yard box but somehow, the keeper saved the day for the away team. 

Ikorodu United Fc captain after the final wishle said "we have dropped 11points out of possible 12points. We will work harder to get this points back and place ourselves in a good position on the log". 

The team will travel to Gateway Fc on Wednesday 5th of April on match day 5 of the Nigerian National League.
