Giodano Football Club of Kano will tackle Aklosendi International Football club of Lafia in final of 2017 Nationwide League One (NLO) Super 8 final after defeating Delta Stars of Ughelli 2-0 in the final group clash.
The Kano based club finished top on the log with seven points in Group A and holds a bragging rights as the only undefeated team in the tournament.
It was the third match of the final group tie, the weather was cloudy and very windy before, during and after kick off but that could not stop the Katsina fans from coming out to watch beautiful football.
The Northern team came into the encounter full of confidence, they knew all they needed was to persevere enough to see off their opponent- the club from Niger Delta.
While for the Ughelli based team, even a win for them would not make any difference, they were ousted before the match-up , as they only filed out to the field playing for pride , but they were dented with two unreplied goals.
Game kicked off as expected and anticipated, the first 5 minutes was a bit one sided, with Giodano having absolute control and it was evident as Delta Stars goal keeper , Eloho Obonodo parried a fine effort from Gaddafi Mohammed and just four minutes later, their efforts paid off when Ahmed Kamilu's decent move around the opposition's vital area connected Abdulrashid Aliyu, who clinically hit the back of the net to make the game 1-0 in favour of Giodano.
Delta Stars tried to find their rthym back into the game just immediately after conceding the goal. Efforts from Favour Martins and Smith Asuquo went off target.
John Odey made things worse for Delta stars as he converted Abdulrashid Aliyu perfect cross to score the second in the 29th minutes of action.
It ended at half time, Giodano FC 1-0 Delta Stars, the second half was more relaxed and even in display of possession, chances created and opportunities missed.
The Center referee blasted his whistle to end the proceeding at 2-0 .
In the last game on MatchDay Three, Aklosendi Football Club of Lafia shocked and knocked out Katsina Feeders FC as the host team were completely dazed with the sublime performance of the Lafia based team in the game that ended 2-1 to top Group B.
The final is scheduled for December 9, 2017 at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
In other results, NAF Rockets lost 1-3 to J. Atete FC , while Agege Spartan edged out Dynamite Force 1-0 in Group B final tie.
