SLIPPERY STRIDES: WHY AND PRECAUTIONS

When a child stumbles, the child looks ahead, whereas the adult looks over his shoulder. 'Ti omode  ba subu, a wowaju, ti agbalagba ba subu, a wo eyin.'

Psychological context
The Child: The practical illustration of the child works out like this; his first reaction, when a child stumbles is to stare ahead in the direction of his destination. Why does the child behave like that?

The first reaction is self-pity. He ruefully bemoans his predicament.

The second reason is because he sees his predicament as a setback to the attainment of his set goal, namely early arrival at his destination.

The third reason is the feeling of shame resulting from the suspicion that people may be looking at, or making fun of him.

These are some of the thoughts running through a child’s mind immediately after a fall. The possibility that he might have sustained an injury as a result of the fall is considered secondary except the injury is obvious, requiring immediate attention.

The Adult: Unlike a child, when an adult trips, he instinctively casts a cursory look behind in the direction from which he has come. This first reaction is to see why he tripped or what caused the fall. He does this for three reasons:

One, to visually note why he tripped or fell;

Two, to mentally master the nature, type, size and position of the object that tripped him and the terrain around where he fell;

Three, to register all the foregoing information in his subconscious as a safeguard against possible future occurrence. A signal flashes immediately in his mind urging him to be on the lookout for other possible obstacles in his path over which he could possibly trip again.

The adult does not necessarily see a fall as a setback; rather, he considers any re-occurrence as a real setback to the early attainment of his goal, and as an affront to his pride as an adult.

My dear fellow football followers, administrators, and stakeholders; fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends lets reflect deeply on how we had in the past helped the club to grow and or fall, or how we had hypnotized and turned others gullible for self-aggrandizement and egoism, what plans do we have for our darling club: KWARA UNITED in this new dispensation?

Each time I heard ‘You wan qualify? If you do, you will go back again’ this discordant statements is not only coming from home, but also in away from home most especially during our away matches, indication of an extended tentacle of the enemies of the club and never those presently in the club, because the club will always be at the receiving end. If today, you pray for the failure of those there for you to be there tomorrow, failure is already awaiting you at your door step. The law of retribution returns. Unfortunately, the club stagnates.

The work force are subjected to grotesque and indecent look under the eyes of the advocates, yet we unconsciously gave them an obsequious bow- you may wonder why? The aspiration of an individual calls for his perseverance, while his limitation consumes his enduring power. 'Bi eniyan yio ti to, ki i jeki o binu, bi eniyan yio timo, ki i jeki oni suru.'

Therefore all the stakeholders and unalloyed passionate lover of KWARA UNITED should remain steadfast, thorough and act fast; not when the league begins, but FROM NOW. The destructive tendency of floodwater is matched by the dogged determination of the house owner to checkmate it. 'Agbara ojo ko loun o nile wo, onile ni o ni gba fun.'

From today, let all the positive things we say openly reflect in our actions towards the club. As we all know, theory without practice leads to an empty idealism, and action without philosophical reflection leads to mindless activism. I strongly believe man is not immersed in reality in some determined manner. Human persons know that they know and know that they are able to change their situation and environments. Together we can change the face of Kwara United, it should be NOW and that change must start with ME.

We must stabilize our darling team in the Elite class. National League is terrifying, in fact, someone needs to be trained in evasive tactics and combat skills for self defense and safety; am an experienced man, twice I was touched by waif or miscreants , the situation is better imagined than being a reality. May we never go back there again; this is only possible if we presently working and those anticipating do the right things at the right time.

Therefore let us all support the present club President, Sir (Prince) Oladimeji Ladi Thompson, a man who is nothing but decency and compassion, this man is service over ambition, integrity above expedience, a man whose achievement had far outstripped even his distractors imagination, an epitome of humility with a steep learning curve in the politics of round leather game. Today he is at the helm of affairs, tomorrow it could be you, I or whoever; whatever we do today, turns history tomorrow.

The club President on the other hand should know that he will have many fake friends now, sir, those that will tell you the truth will not flirt round you except those that will sell lies to you to exploit your simplicity, you will have to move closer to those that will tell you the truth and whatever piece of advice you are given must be critically scrutinized through the processes of chewing, swallowing, swift constant regurgitation before digestion for effective utilization and reliable results.

It's not Hocus Pocus, it's all about focus. A lack of course and focus on a genuine cause is the curse of most lives.

Coming together is the beginning. Reaping together is progress. Working together is success.

The variables: coming together, reaping together and working together will surely guarantee sustainability and or podium finish. But for now let us look for water to quench our thirst, before we look for palm wine for enjoyment.

HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE.
