18TH NESTLE MILO BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP NATIONAL FINAL: LAGOS GIRLS/BAYELSA MEET, AS DELTA BOYS BATTLE FCT



The stage is set for the grand finale of the  of the 18th Nestle Milo Basketball championship holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Asaba Stadium, Delta State.

The final match which comes up Today,Saturday will see Delta State taking on FCT in the Boys category, while Lagos state and Bayelsa state will fight for honours in the Girls category.

In grueling boys semi final game, Henson Demonstration School Asaba, Delta state defeated Crowther memorial college Lokoja Kogi state by 25-18 progress to the Final.

 

The lads from Delta demonstrated well rehearsed basketball technique, quick passes, excellent formation coupled with quick thinking in the game.

The Second semi final, Saw Government secondary school Karu,Abuja out dunked Osadenis Mixed Secondary School Benin,Edo State by 28-25 points.

In the Girls semi final, there was no surprise as defending champions St:Jude Girls Sec Sch Amarata,Bayelsa state showed their superiority over Government secondary school Gboko,Benue State with 29-21 victory.

In the second semi final played, Wesley Girls Secondary School Lagos fought back from a 13-point deficit in the last quarter to account for the scalp of Yejide girls Grammar sch Ibadan, Oyo State 32-29 points.Supporters of the two respective teams were kept at the edge of their seats thtoughout the match.

Oyindamola Abdulazeez and Salaudeen Bashira were the outstanding players for the Lagos Girls,with several shots and blocking.

Speaking after match, Head coach of Lagos Girls, Olayinka Oyewunmi, lauded the sponsor, Nestle Plc, for their continued support of the game at grassroots level, saying, “the sponsor should be commended for ensuring the continuation of the annual event. We need more of this, so that we can discover more players from the schools.”
