NWPL: Fakunle Crowns Player of the Month

Delta Queens forward Oluwaseun Fakunle has been named as Futbalgalore.com's best player in the Nigeria Women Premier League for the month of May.

The explosive youngster beat off competition from Rivers Angels skipper Charity John as well as Bayelsa Queens' Rofiat Sule and Osarenoma Igbinovia.

Anthony Esther of Osun Babes and Amarachi Orjinma of Rivers Angels also made the list.

Fakunle has two goals and one assist to her credit after playing two matches in the top-flight.

She becomes the first Delta Queens player to win the award since it was initiated in the year 2015.

The hardworking attacker paid tribute to her team-mates for making this feat a reality.

"It’s a great feeling, but this award comes from hard work and support by the whole squad. It’s more of a collective award rather than an
individual award because we’ve worked very hard from pre-season until now," she said.

“It shows there is a lot of quality and determination in this team. The most important thing for me is the unity and team spirit we have
shown.

"My gratitude goes to my coaches, fans and organizers of this award."

The award will be presented to the fast rising player when Delta Queens clash with Confluence Queens in the match day five of the
Nigeria Women Premier League on Saturday 18th June 2016.
