ABS FC deepens Remo Stars relegation worries


Goals from Oyedeji Samuel and Wasiu Alalade ensured Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) got maximum points against Visitors, Remo Stars FC (RSFC) in one of  Match Day 33 games in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Kwara State Complex Stadium, Ilorin.

The Saraki Boys settled into the game early from a corner kick after Adekunle Tunde saved Eugine Ossy's shot but Wasiu Alalade's attempt went wide.

The visitors came close to going ahead after Onovo David was brought down close to the box and Victor Mbaoma's free kick went narrowly wide.

ABS FC went ahead from the spot after Adekunle Tunde brought down Oyedeji Samuel inside the box and he brilliantly took and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

The Sky Blue Stars fully got into the game after Onovo David made a run with the ball to locate Victor Mbaoma, he sent the cross in but nobody was there to convert for the visitors.

Onovo David made a good run pass Ebuka Anthony to locate Mbaoma but Abdullahi Boje rushed to push and nobody was close to convert for the Sky Blue Stars.

Towards the closing minutes of the first half, Awazie Ekene and Victor Mbaoma connected well from Onovo David's play and Mbaoma tried to get pass Abdullahi Boje but he grabbed at once.

Chindo Abubakar should have extended the lead for the host from a brilliant pass but he ballooned the ball into the air.

The host started the second half in style but Eugene Ossy played wide before Adeshina Gata also tried his attempt but went wide to still maintain the lead.

Saraki Boys came close yet again through Chindo Abubakar from a loose ball after Adekunle Tunde punched Adeshina Gata's shot.

Awazie Ekene was wonderful for the Sky Blue Stars after displaying brilliantly to equalise for his side but his efforts weren't fruitful enough to level up.

The host were close to extending the lead yet again with a rebound from Wasiu Ossy but Adekunle Tunde saw off his attempt in grand style.

It was a story of both sides wanting to prove a point with the host trying to extend their lead to be comfortable and the visitors were busy looking to level up to keep the game open but the goals weren't coming for them.

On the dot of ninety minutes, Ibrahim Abdullahi missed a glorious chance to extend the lead but he anxiously ballooned the ball into the air.

Awazie Ekene and debutant Obi Jerry combined to shock the host but Abdullahi Boje stood tall to deny the visitors before Alalade Wasiu finally extending the lead from Ibrahim Ahmed's cross.

The victory have helped ABS FC to leave the relegation waters for now and the Sky Blue Stars remained 20th on the log table.
