KwaraPoly ready to host NIPOGA



Kwara State Polytechnic has expressed readiness to host the Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), despite having almost a year to the next Polytechnics multi-sports fiesta.
The Rector of the pioneer tertiary institution in Kwara state, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu stated this on Wednesday while receiving members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the maiden JAMB Tertiary Institutions Football Competition in his office. 
Kwara Polytechnic first hosted the event 36 years ago, in 1981 to be exact.
According to the Rector, the institution has started planning for the hosting of the Games since 2012, and has since then, covered a lot of grounds towards staging a befitting showpiece that will be a pride of all.
‘We are consistent in the participation in the Games, and as we participate, we understudy the processes and what it entails to host the event. It was a deliberate plan, and we are now ready to host, as almost all the facilities are on ground’, he said.
‘At Kwara Polytechnics, we take learning very serious. We also take sports very serious, just to draw the attention of the youths away from social vices’
He said that the institution has set up and inaugurated various committees, to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Alhaji Elelu said that the facilities, which include ultra-modern Indoor Sports Hall, were funded through Tetfund Special Intervention Fund.
He therefore, solicited for the support of stakeholders in hosting befitting Games, adding that ‘the institution is planning to host with a difference’.
He said that the institution has engaged the services of consultants, to help in delivering a world class event come next year.
