Ogbe wins maiden Success TIYU 'Play 'n' Catch Tourney


Kogi United penalty specialist goalkeeper, Salisu Ogbe has claimed the top prize for the maiden Success Tiyu organized 'Play n Catch' soccer championship.

The championship organized in conjunction with Kogi State Football Association and Hon Hassan Okehi saw over 50 players and goalkeepers competed for the 50,000 top prize which the former Kwara Football Academy, KFA shot stopper won at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Saturday.

Ogbe stopped eleven of the shots played at him to claim the prizes while Christian Panto of Felele United converted nine of his spot kicks to win the second placed prize of 30,000.
 

Kogi United's Talent of the Year for the 2016 football season, Ibrahim Sanni Enesi scored seven penalties to win 20,000 prize money as the third placed player.

Former chairman of Okehi Local Government, Honorable Hassan Yusuf Okehi who chaired the finals commended the organizers for the initiative which he believed would further help the participants to gathers experience in the penalty shootouts.

Coordinator of the championship and chairman of Success Tiyu Int'l, Abubakar Musa noted that the finals would be a biennial events just as he called for more collaboration with other organizations and individuals to further develop the youths in the area through sports.
