NNL announces Giwa FC expulsion

The Nigeria National league has confirmed in clear teams, that Giwa FC of Jos will not take part in this season Nigeria National League, NNL.

NNL chief executive officer, CEO, Bukola Olopade who confirmed this story, said the Nigeria football federation in reply to their letter on this matter stated clearly that the management of the club has a pending matter against the federation in the supreme court and that there is no way he can participate in a league supervised by the football house when he has a pending case in court disputing the legality or otherwise of the present NFF board.

Bukola Olopade popularly addressed by his cronies as  Ozogula, has some good news for keen followers of the National league regarding sponsorship.

He said discussions have reached advanced stage with Bet9ja to become the title sponsors of the league, stressing that anytime soon, the league will be called BET9JA  NNL LEAGUE.

The former commissioner for sports in Ogun state who has never hide his admiration and respect for LMC chairman Shehu Dikko and his running of the NPFL, said their target as a board, is to modFC the league after the NPFL in the area of self sustainable, branding and followership.

He said the league is also in advanced discussion with STARTIMES/NTA for the live telecast of league games from designated venues.

What that means is that STARTIMES/NTA will soon secure the broadcast right for the NNL even though he didn't disclose how mush is involved in this deal.

"We are talking to so many companies presently and in due course, we will roll out our full sponsorship package for the season. Just last week, we secured a multi million naira deal with an hotel in Lagos and on Wednesday morning, I received a mail from a company in Italy inviting me over to Rome, to tidy up a massive partnership deal. So, sometime next week or the week after, we will be in Italy to finalise that deal" he said.

On working out a synergy arrangement between the NNL and the LMC so that match dates between both leagues will not clash, Olopade said both boards are always working hand in hand and there is no way there will be a clash in fixtures scheduling or use of stadium facilities  between both leagues.

The league which kicked off last weekend, continued midweek with matches spread across the country but the NNL  board is really impressed from takeoff especially with the turnout of spectators at match venues and the massive media coverage the league enjoyed  in week one.
