Shooting federation solicits government, corporate's support

The Nigerian Shooting Federation, NSF, says it is soliciting for assistance from Government and private sector in the Country to enable it participate at the forthcoming Para-Shooting Tournament slated for between 29th January and 13th February, 2018, in Umbria, Italy.

President of the Federation, Brigadier-General Lonsdale Adeoye (Retrd) made the appeal today in Abuja while responding to questions on the levels of preparations of the Country's para-shooters for the fast-approaching tourney.

He said the Federation has done its best in training the para-shooters for the Competition but lacks the financial strength to cater for the visa and flight ticket fees of the participants, their coaches and backroom staff.

"In the Federation's 30 years of active shooting and 41 years of existence, the NSF would be participating in its first Short-Gun Para Competition after Melbourne 1986, and we can't afford to miss this great opportunity because there are medals to be won.

"We have seven para-shooters, five coaches and three officials who will both undergo trainings and thereafter partake in the Competition that will last for two weeks. They all need visas, air tickets and other logistics, but we don't have the money to pay for their needs.

"That's why am calling on the Ministry of Sports, other Ministries , Departments and Agencies as well as the Private Sector to come to our aid so that the athletes, their coaches and officials can travel on time for the Competition.

"We are battle ready to make the Country and Continent proud in Italy", Adeoye passionately appeals.

Adeoye said after the trainings and Competition in Italy, the coaches would  be sent to the various zones in Nigeria as a way of discovering and  raising budding shooters for local and international meets.
