"Beat Rangers, get N.5m", Tornadoes chairman challenge players


Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL side Niger Tornadoes FC, Honorable Adamu Aliyu has made a five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) promise for his players should they beat Enugu Rangers at the Cathedral on Sunday.

Hon Aliyu made the cash challenge while handing over the N200, 000 pledge he made to his players if they win their week 4 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

Chidebere Blessing Ajoku’s goal from each half of the game was enough for the Coach Abubakar Bala side to beat the Nigeria’s Confederation of African Football, CAF Representative, Wikki Tourists in midweek fixture at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, and earn them their first win as well as getting the cash reward.

According to him, boosting the morale of the players was something that must be done in order to get best out of the boys; he assured that the club would ensure that player’s welfare was paramount.

“I am concerned about the welfare of the players and technical crew as they form the nucleus of the team. We must make them comfortable that is why we are we must motivate the boys”, he said. 

He added that motivation plays a crucial role in performance engaged to do certain, as such he maintained that he would toy with players’ welfare, which he said must not always be in cash but other incentives.

The chairman urged the players to continue with the new found rhythm of the game and remain focused and determined for their subsequent games.

“Am happy with your performance, the team has really improved from our last two matches played in Port-Harcourt and Lokoja. Am sure if we build on these last two games we would carry the day in Enugu”, he said
