Kwara United beat Osun United 2-0 in a friendly

Kwara United Football Club beat Osun United Football Club 2-0 in a friendly match held on Friday at the University of Ilorin Sports Complex.

The game comes as preparations for the Harmony Warriors and Omoluabi Giants ahead of the 2017 Nigeria National League season.

Segun Alebiosu and Jimoh Hammed scored in the both half with Kwara United enjoying the lion’s share of possession from kickoff.

Osun United attacking midfielder, Jide Fatokun, had a glorious chance to put his side ahead in the 25th minute but was shy in front of goal.

The duo of Kwara United attackers, Michael Ohanu and Alamayo Funsho efforts in the 42nd and 43rd minutes was saved by the sharp reflex Osun United goalkeeper, Ayo Ojo.

Alebiosu in the 45th minute breaks the deadlock as he was played in with plenty of space and had plenty of time to get the ball onto his right foot and dispatch a low shot that Ayo Ojo could only reach with his fingertips into the net to end the first half 1-0.

Kwara United came back in the second half mounting pressure on Osun United defence and Hammed 60th minute stunner made it 2-0.

Efforts by Adeyemi Adeyeye, Abubakar Mohammed and inspiring Mustapha Ramoni, to reduced the tally was denied by Jonah Usman, in goal for Kwara United.

Coach John Obuh, in his words after the game believes Osun United is a promising side that will celebrate something meaningful at the end of the incoming season.

“I’m impressed with the standard of the game, Osun United played very well it’s just that they lost concentration at the vital areas and they really need to improve on that.

I want to commend Coach Duke Udi, for a job well done on his team. I never knew the team was that good and I think if they can play more quality friendly games that will be very good for the team.

“As for my team, we’re still on course, we just need to work very hard because it’s not going to be easy ball game in the NNL.”

Duke Udi said he’s not disappointed with his wards stating that the game has given him the opportunity to see where he can work upon before the new season.
