Remo Stars shine over Elkanemi Warriors



Goals from Onuoha Chukwujekwu and Oche Salefu secured a vital 3 points for the Sky Blue Stars against El-Kanemi Warriors in the Match Day 5 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Nduka Ugbade made four changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Nasarawa United with Victor Mbaoma and Abiodun Awoyemi out injured, Akeem Taiwo and Daniel Okorie made their first start in the league.

The game started on a high from kick off as Kazeem Yekini spilled Oche Salefu's free kick for Chukwujekwu Onuoah to slot the ball home in the 1st minute of the game.

Oche Salefu, Oshobe Shiju and Akeem Taiwo combined well to extend the lead in the 22nd minute but Kareem Yekini was quick to stop the attack.

El-Kanemi Warriors first chance came through Bello Kafaramata after he received a good pass but played the shot straight into the hands of Chizoba Ndukwe.

Oche Salefu tried making Akeem Taiwo's pass count but El-Kanemi Warriors' Kazeem Yekini made a good save of Salefu's strike.

Just few minutes after the second half commenced, Okorie Daniel was brought down at the edge of the box, Oche Salefu steped up and curled in the free kick to make it 2-0 in favour of the Sky Blue Stars.

In the 52nd minute, Okorie Daniel tried to find Akeem Taiwo but Aguda John was too quick to cut off the attack for the visitors.

Kofarmata Bello had another chance which was denied by Chizoba Ndukwe before nodding over the bar on his second attempt.

The lads continued to mount pressure on the visitors but couldn't convert chances created to increase the lead and the game ended 2nil in favour of the home side.

The Sky Blue Stars travel to Uyo for a date with Akwa United on Wednesday.
