Rivers Angels Ready for League Final

All is now set for the much anticipated finals of the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja on Saturday.

The final between defending Champions Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons will decide the winner of the 2015/2016 NWPL season.

Both sides had met in the semifinal of the women’s Federation Cup in Enugu where Rivers Angels (The Ultimate Club) ran away with a 1-0 win.

Head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Christopher Danjuma is optimistic he’d get a better result today.

“This is our job and profession, so we try to improve from our previous results.

“So it’s the issue of strategizing and making sure everything that is needed to be done is approached properly rather than bothering about any last experience or our opponent,” he said

On the other hand, captain of the defending champions, Charity John has promised to lead the team to a second title for the season.

The Rivers Angels skipper said the team wants to return home with the title following the promise made by the Executive Governor of the State, Barrister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike to host the team to another dinner.

“We’ve met them before now in the semifinal and we are about to meet again in the league final.

“We will just go out there to do our best, knowing that the governor made a promise, we want to come back home with the trophy,” she told the club’s media.

Kickoff is 3pm.
