NPFL Preview: Remo Stars vs Abia Warriors


The Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL match day three come alive on Sunday with one of the most teresting fixtures between Remo Stars and Abia Warriors.

The Sky Blue Stars lost their first two matches 2-1 at home and away to both Plateau United and Gombe United.

On the other hand, Abia Warriors shocked the defending champions, Rangers International at the Cathedral before defeating newcomers, Katsina United 2nil at the Umuahia Township Stadium in Umuahia on Wednesday.

The last time both teams met was in the Nigeria National League, NNL in 2013 where Abia Warriors defeated Remo Stars 3-0 in Umuahia and played out a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.

Head coach of Abia Warriors, Abdullahi Biffo says there is no special treatment to the game and the team wants to get the maximum three points tomorrow.

"There is no special treatment to the game, we came us to play the game just the way we have played our previous games to continue the league on a good note."

"It is possible to win thegame against Remo Starbut it is not going to be easy as many of us thought because they will come all out for this game." He told RSFC Media.

Speaking with the Chief Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede says the team is bent on winning the game against Abia Warriors in front of the supporters.

"Our aim is to win the game against Abia Warriors in the presence of our supporters and to get our first maximum three points."

"The previous defeats to Plateau United and Gombe United is not too good, the defeats have come like that and we are set to do the needful against Abia Warriors."

The game between both sides is scheduled to take place on the 22nd of January, 2017 by 4pm at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, Ogun State and the tie will be shown live on Supersport for the enjoyment of fans both home and abroad.
