Federation Cup: Wikki Tourists' Scribe Fancy Winning Double



Secretary of current Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL leaders, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Suleiman Tijani has declared that the club's desire was to clinch the League and Federation Cup double this season to appreciate the government and fans' support.

Tijani stated this to while speaking to Onward News in Lokoja as the Abdu Maikaba boys preparing to take on Crown FC of Ogbomoso in the Quarter-final of this year's Federation Cup slated for Wednesday at the Confluence Stadium.

He noted that the spirit in the boys have been renewed having regained their top position in the league after their last weekend 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors in Bauchi.
 

Tijani however believed the victory would inspired Wikki to go for winning the game against Crown admitting that it would be a tough but achievable task as the Ogbomoso side saw to the elimination of both Niger Tornadoes and Rangers Int'l  en route quarter finals. 

"Earlier in the season, we were taking our time with each games this season, and the club have been getting good results, but for Almighty Allah to having taking us this far, being top of the log with few games to go and in the quarter finals of the federation cup, the believe has come on us to go for winning the two trophies and I believe we have the team to achieve that target," Tijani said.

Asked on what has been the magic for Wikki's impressive run in the ongoing league season, Tijani linked that to team spirit, dedication and timely government at all time has been key to his side's adding that winning the two available cups would cap an historical season for the entire members of the club and the state as well.

"We have since formed a strong bond in Wikki Tourists, we compliment one another in terms of team work both on and off the pitch, the team spirit, discipline and most especially government support through our chairman has been tremendous, this has been helping us going on positive, the fans and supporters have been by our side all through and we always appreciate them for that," he said.

Wikki Tourists have garnered 47 points in 28 games and occupied the top spot on NPFL table on superior goal difference to second placed Rangers Int'l.
