BEING THE PRESS TEXT OF THE APC KOGI PROGRESSIVE INITIATIVE FOR THE 200,000 SIGNATURE FOR POWER SHIFT HELD ON THE WEDNESDAY 29TH JULY, 2015

Gentlemen of the press,
On behalf of the leadership of the KOGI PROGRESSIVE INITIATIVE, I wish to present the following as the text of our press statement as we approach the NOV 21 Governorship election in our dear state particularly as it relates to the primary election of our dear party All progressives Congress.

It is a known fact that our dear state in the last 16 years has been governed by just a senatorial district which is the Kogi east senatorial district specifically the Igala tribe. it is also in the public domain that there has a very concerted and legitimate struggle for power to shift to either of the west or central senatorial district of the state.

in the spirit and interest of justice, fairness and equity, we have made several demands for our brothers and sisters in Kogi east to understand why power should also be taken or given to either of the senatorial district that are yet to be privileged to govern the state.

Upon this background we wish to announce that we have resolved to take signatures of over 200, 000 voters of the west and central senatorial district to demand, agitate and request for power shift.

We shall upon receiving these signatures present the document to the national secretariat of our party to demand that the leadership of our party, APC take decisive step to support this genuine and long overdue course.

We therefore use this medium to call on every indigene of Kogi West and Central Senatorial Zones that we shall open a register in each senatorial zone of the state to demand signature of voters to support the course of power shift.

This patriotic and very fundamental exercise has become very germane and important to form part of activities to drive home our demand.

Register shall be opened at the front of every Local Government Secretariat of each of the local government of Kogi West and Central Senatorial districts on Monday 3rd of August to Friday 7th of August between the hours of 9am and 4pm prompt.

We therefore enjoin all the people from these areas to come out en mass to register for a generational struggle to liberate our people and the generation yet to come.

We also call on our political, religious and traditional leaders to help educate their teeming followers on the fundamental importance of the exercise.

We therefore assert that the struggle for power shift in November 2015 is a battle of no retreat no surrender.

Thank you and God bless.
Mallam Onotu Otaru
Cordinator.
