POLITICS #KogiGovRace: Lord Lugard House Not For The Clueless and Functionless Leader by Odih Daniel N.

I was particularly elated the moment the Nigerian Television Authority announced in its 9pm news on July 10th, 2015 that the election in Kogi State would be held on November 21st. The first thing that came to my mind was, “Wada is gone”. I hold no personal hatred for Wada or envy his position as a governor. But I have a great aversion for people who do not use political power to the people’s expectations. That is where Mr Wada and I fall apart.

On February 19, 2013, Sahara Reporters published one of my articles entitled MY STATE HAS NO GOVERNOR. In the article, I highlighted, among other things, the making of a good government. I named areas where I felt Mr Wada abandoned his responsibilities in pursuit of a wild goose. Expectedly, I thought he would take a cue and do as other governors were doing then.

With the mammoth of contestants rolling over and vying for the position of governor in this dear state come November 21st, 2015, I am left with no option but to state that a stage is set for an indelible mark to be made on the state. While it is clear that many of these men are only out to register their existence in the world, with only a few of them knowing the reason why they are out and what they can do, I am convinced without prejudice that Dr Yaqeen Habeeb will make a difference, considering his antecedents, with fat legacies.

Gone are the days when people lived on lies, deception and frustration. Gone are the days when people live on old glories. The current generation of ours depend solely on someone in whose hands our future is SECURED. We do not believe in people who are bent on revanchist’s missions, threatening enemies and asphyxiating them for holding political ideologies and beliefs that are different from theirs; someone who is on a mission to revenge those he made and who deserted him when the tide turned. We do not believe in clannish and sectional politician whose songs are sung in his community and has no impact elsewhere. We do not believe in old wine in a new wineskin. We believe in someone who will promise us jobs and will provide same; someone who will guarantee us of robust economy; who will cleanse the dirt off the streets; someone who has no corruption case hanging loosely on him like the sword of Damocles; someone who will manage our resources and guarantee qualitative education for all citizens irrespective of their tribe, religion and location. This is where Dr Yaqeen Habeeb comes in, handy.
Dr Yaqeen A. Habeeb  is a dynamic and successful banker, a philanthropist per excellence, a consistent and loyal member of APC, a grassroots mobilizer, a prudent manager of human and material  resources. He is a man that is endowed with rare qualities of outstanding leadership that will remain not only a beacon but also a challenge to this generation and indeed future generations.

He is a well-researched fellow of many professional associations who has an enviable number of publications in both local and international journals. He is a man of high integrity and reputation.

He is kind, decent, generous and receptive. An embodiment of humility who has demonstrated that political adventurism is not always correlated with personal egoism, he is functional in development strategies and that is why he will remain immortal in all areas of his influence. He is indeed worthy of the task of building this state up to the taste of generation yet unborn. He will be the first governor that will turn Lokoja to a mini London.
