#BrownIdeyeCup: SKE FC Mauls Fountain FC to Go Top



A second half brace by Kimi Jeremiah ensured that Academy Football SKE ran out victorious against Fountain FC in the ongoing Brown Ideye Challenge Competition taking place in Portharcourt.

Academy Football SKE continued their dominant force in the ongoing tournament as Portharcourt's finest Academy side to overrun their opponent in one sided affair.  

Academy Football SKE could have taken the lead in the first minute of the game when Fountain FC goal keeper failed to hold grips of the ball which almost resulted to the first goal of the game.


Striker Solomon Thompson was able to beat his marker in an aerial duel at the edge of the box in the 6th minute to find an onrushing Eddy Clement whose effort couldn't get at the ball as it went out of touch for a goal kick.

As the game progressed, both teams began to be cautious and tactical in their approach to the game as it turned out to be a bore fest.
Striker Solomon Thompson gave Academy Football SKE the opener in the 34th minute when he looped high to head home an Ebere Akaka free kick.

Academy Football SKE dominated proceedings in the game as their opponents failed to register any shot on target till the blast of the first half hostilities which ended one nil in favour of the Portharcourt finest Academy.

Upon resumption of the second half, Fountain FC went out gun blazing in search of the equalizer but the resolute defending from the two center backs comprising of Gambo Musa and Nelson Eruteyan prevented them from having any attempt on goal.

Coach Gabriel Nwiyara effected some substitutions as the duo of Anthony Obia and Abraham Deekor came in for goal scorer Solomon Thompson and Dickson Joel.

Academy Football SKE finest trademarks of dismantling their opponents with their scintilating pattern of play came to the fore when Attacking Midfielder Abraham Deekor exchanged wonderful passes with Anthony Obia in the 18 yard box of Fountain FC as the latter found an unmarked Kimi Jeremiah who slammed the ball inside the back of the net to double the lead for his side in the 65th minute.

Fountain FC almost came close to reduce the deficit in the 70th minute when goal keeper Darlington Ovunda made a pinpoint save to deny Fountain FC any chance for a come back.

The rout was completed in the 75th minute when mercurial winger Kimi Jeremiah curled in an exquisite ball into the back of the net to get his brace as the fans applauded him for his superlative effort.

It ended three nil in favour of Academy Football SKE who exemplified scintilating soccer artistry against their opponents to top the pile in Group C with nine points and also keeping three clean sheets on the trot.
