The Chief Administrator of Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Lawal Shiru has assured the people of the local government of good governance through conscious implementation of programmes that would have direct bearings on the lives of the people.
He pledged his administration’s total commitment to operate an open door policy while also welcoming meaningful contributions and suggestions from individuals to jointly move the council forward.
The Chairman who gave the assurance on Friday, during the handing over ceremony by the immediate past chairman of the council, Hon. Aliyu Baba Usman, held at the council secretariat, however, solicited for the support and cooperation of the entire citizenry of the council area to his administration to enable him deliver the dividends of democracy.
Shiru was quick to commend the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for appointing him and his team.
“We thank the governor for the trust and confidence reposed in us to be appointed to pilot the affairs of this local government.”
“May I use this opportunity to appeal for continued peace so as to enhance greater development. As we all know that development can only thrive and be achieved in an atmosphere of peace”, he stressed.
He noted that despite the prevailing socio-economic challenges, his administration would work to improve the fortunes of the local government and ensure the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.
Shiru promised to look inward with a view to improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the council to enable him meet his obligations to the people in the areas of health care services, provision of necessary social services, job creation and overall development of the council area.
The epoch-making ceremony was attended by family members, friends and associate, parties’ Leaders and members as well as well-wishers.
