Gold Cup Organisers appreciate Senator Buhari, Partners, others


The Organizing Committee of prestigious Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament, have appreciated the distinguish Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari for his maximum support all through the tournament.


The General Co-ordinator of Nigeria's most elaborate pre-season tournament in Nigeria, Tunde Shamsudeen, applauded Bet9ja, Naija LEAGUE Magazine, Owu Sportswear, MatchRoom, Phoenix AC, Pebbles Hotel and Tribeca Code, who were the official partners of the competition and the Nigeria Media for a successful event.


The 4th edition of the pre-season tourney was held in Ijebu-Ode at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium from November 25 to December 4, 2016 and was indeed a huge success for the organisers, Nigeria League teams, and partners.


Ten teams from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League(NNL) and the NationWide League(NLO) gave good account of themselves in the 10-day soccer fiesta as they prepared for the Nigerian League season.


Lobi Stars Football Club emerged as the winner of the competition with a 4-3 penalty win over Gold Cup debutant, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club on Sunday evening.


An obviously excited Shamsudeen thanked the clubs, partners, media, friends and family who made the pre-season event worthwhile.


"I want to appreciate Senator Buhari for his maximum support from the commencement of the tournament to the tail end. He has been a major pillar that ensured the tournament was successful."


"Senator Buhari, who donated trophy for the last edition, and moved a step further by ensuring that cash prizes, trophies and medals are awarded to the Season 4 champions."


The Coordinator also heaped praises on the teams that participated in the 4th edition of the tourney.


"I really appreciate all the teams such as newly crowned champions, Lobi Stars, MFM FC, Kano Pillars, Remo Stars, Crown FC, Niger Tornadoes FC, FC Ebedei, and Enyimba, for honouring the invitation because without them the competition won't have taken place."


"I will like to thank my media team for the time well spent in making sure that latest happenings during the competition are been circulated, also different mediums for making time in disseminating to their large audience."
