Rivers United on Sunday, emerged winners of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL 2016 Super 4 Pre-season tournament organised by the League Management Company, LMC in Enugu.
The competition, which began last Wednesday, featured the top three teams from the end of the 2015/2016 NPFL and Federation Cup Champions.
The Port Harcourt team finished above rivals, Rangers Int'l with six points from three matches.
Rangers finished second with five points while Wikki Tourists finished third with four points and FC IfeanyiUbah held the rear with one point from their three matches.
In the first round of matches, Wikki beat IfeanyiUbah 2-1 while Rangers beat Rivers 2-0.
Wikki and Rangers played a barren draw in the second round matches while 10 man Rivers United beat IfeanyiUbah by 2-0.
In Sunday’s matches, Rivers were 1-0 winners over Wikki Tourists while IfeanyiUbah held Rangers to a 1-1 draw.
Rangers Int'l and Rivers United will represent the country in the CAF Champions League while FC IfeanyiUbah and Wikki Tourists will compete in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.
