#KogiGovRace: REC Promises Free, Fair, Credible Poll in Kogi

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it is poised to conduct free, fair and credible gubernatorial election in Kogi State.

Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Alhaji Hussein Halilu Pai, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities of the commission ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state, added that preparation is in top gear for the conduct hitch free election in the state.

Pai disclosed that Continuous Voter Registration, CVR and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, will commence simultaneously from September 2 to 7.

He pointed out that the lessons learnt from previous election will be used in raising the bar during the forthcoming gubernatorial election, stressing that INEC will use Kogi election to display improved processes and rigour.

The REC stated that INEC will carry out a CVR exercise and those registered will have their cards printed on time for the election, adding that voters’ transfer will also be supported.

He added that 10 direct data capturing machines, DDCM, will be deployed in each of the 21 local government areas of the state to be manned by two personnel, adding that the distribution of PVCs would soon commence for those that could not collect before the 2015 elections.
